Aims : - By the end of the lesson, the students are able to talk about hobbies - By the end of the lesson, the students are able to express preferences . II. IV- Teaching aids: - textbook - Handouts - chalk - cards V- Techniques : - skill-based ( listening, speaking) VI- Procedures : State/time Teacher’s and students’ activities Blackboard Materials 1. warm- up (7’) Games: Spontaneous talks -Put the class into groups of four. - give each group a list of leisure activities. Each activity is written on a piece of paper and then folded so that it cannot be seen. - Within groups, SS take turns to choose a topic and then talk about it - Handouts spontaneously for one minute. - Remind SS that they do not need to care about accuracy. -After SS have finished their spontaneous talk within groups , elicit which topic they chose, and whether they like doing it in their free time and why. Suggested leisure activities ( The assigned topic for each group does not need to be the same.) I’d rather read novels. -Make sure SS use English to communicate. Activity 2: group discussion -Based on the conversations in activity Textbook 4. Post- Speaking (7’) 5. Homework (1’) 1, group SS who have the same hobbies. -Ask SS to discuss why they are interested in such things. - go around to monitor the class and give help if necessary - call on some group representatives to introduce the hobbies they have in common and report the reasons for such interests.
