Mỗi ngôn ngữ có những đặc điểm và giá trị riêng trong số đó phải kể đến nhân tố thành ngữ. Nhận thức được tầm quan trọng của thành ngữ, tác giả luận văn dành thời gian và công sức tìm hiểu về các thành ngữ trong tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt, đặc biệt là thành ngữ có chứa các từ chỉ thời tiết bởi vì đây là một trong những khía cạnh gần gũi, quen thuộc với tất cả mọi người. Trước hết, tác giả giới thiệu một số định nghĩa, đặc điểm về thành ngữ, văn hóa, ngôn ngữ, mối quan hệ qua lại giữa văn hóa và ngôn ngữ. Qua quá trình tìm hiểu và phân tích, luận văn này đã chỉ ra được những sự giống và khác nhau nổi bật từ góc độ văn hóa giữa thành ngữ tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt có chứa các từ chỉ thời tiết.
