Lesson Plan (grade 11 – advanced) Period 99: Preparation date :5 /3/2008 Unit12 : Lesson : Speaking I. Aims : - By the end of the lesson, the students are able to talk about hobbies - By the end of the lesson, the students are able to express preferences . II. Lexical items : -would rather -prefer - engrossed III- Structures : - I enjoy swimming because it is an excellent way of getting rid of stress. - I refer reading books to playing sports. IV- Teaching aids: - textbook - Handouts - chalk - cards V- Techniques : - skill-based ( listening, speaking) VI- Procedures : State/time Teacher’s and students’ activities Blackboard Materials 1. warm- up (7’) Games: Spontaneous talks -Put the class into groups of four. - give each group a list of leisure activities. Each activity is written on a piece of paper and then folded so that it cannot be seen. - Handouts - Within groups, SS take turns to choose a topic and then talk about it spontaneously for one minute. - Remind SS that they do not need to care about accuracy. -After SS have finished their spontaneous talk within groups , elicit which topic they chose, and whether they like doing it in their free time and why. Suggested leisure activities ( The assigned topic for each group does not need to be the same.)
