Procedures : State/time Teacher’s and students’ activities Blackboard Materials 1. warm- up (7’) Games: visualizing - Ask SS to work in groups of 5. - give each group a copy of the pictures - Ask SS to work out a compound noun or a phrasal verb for each pair of pictures ( a, b, c, d) - the 1th group to come up with all correct words/ phrases is the winner. - refer back to the pictures and go over the answers with the class. - Ask SS to think of how these words are related to sports news, and get them to try producing small pieces of news (short sentences) using such words. - Transition: Today we’re going to learn about four pieces of news- and let’s see how much of your stories / sentences is included in the news - write down on the board : . * Expected answers: a. walkout b. sell out c. be rained out d. bodybuilder / bodybuilding.
