Unit 6: PLACES Lesson 5 ( C3-4 ) I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, the Ss will be able to practice “Where is …/ are…?” questions and answers with town vocabulary and prepositions of place to describe a street. II. Language contents: - Grammar: Simple present tense: Where is ? Where are ? - Vocabulary: Opposite, between, drugstore, photocopy store, bakery, restaurant, police station, museum, stadium III. Techniques: open- prediction, lucky number, group works, pair works, ask and answer. IV. Teaching aids: lesson plan, textbook, pictures page 68, 69 and cassette V. Time: Allotted 45 minutes. VI. Procedures: 1. Warm up(4’):- Greeting - Hangman: MOUNTAIN - You can guess the word: Where you can go on a picnic. It is a high place. It has many trees. 2.Check up (5’) Write vocabulary & look at the picture in part 2 ,discribe the house 3. New lesson (36’) Teacher and students’ activities Contents T 1. Presentation a. Pre teach- Vocabulary T: elicits the voc. (using picture C3/P.70) ( picture) (nt) (nt) (nt) (realia ) Ss: repeat the whole class and individually. + Checkimg the Vocabulary: Matching b. To know more about them.Let’s listen to the tape”. - Ss can read and listen at the same time. + T elicits from the Ss to give the model sentences. - Ss read the model sentences in chorus, the in pairs. + Concept checking: Meaning/ form/ uses/ pro. 2. Practice. a.Picture drill: C4/D.70 - Ask Ss to ask and answer the questions about the picures in exercise C3/ p 70. + the movie theater. + the restaurant + the police 3.Model sentences. S1:Where is the photocopy store? S2: It’s next to the bakery. =>Form: Where + be + S ? S + be + preposition + place => Use: To ask and answer about the prepositions of things II. Practice: a. Picture drill: C4/D.70 Example exchange: S1: Where is the toystore? S2: It’s between the booksrore and the police station. 5’ 15’ + the toystore + the children. + Run through all the pictures. - T and Ss model first. Ss repeat. - Ss practice in pairs: Open pairs- Closed pairs. b. Guessing game: C4/P.71 - Ask Ss to work in pairs: - No1: give suggestions. - No2 : predict what it is. => exchange. + Open pairs/ closed pairs. 3. Production T: reads, the bookstore, the mountains, the restaurant, the hospital, the river, the drugstore, the factory, trees, the police station, the the bakery, the lake, the photopy store, the museum, the park, the movie theater, the stadium, the rice paddy, the hotel, the village, the b.
