LESSON PLAN UNIT 13: HOBBIES PERIOD 1 Lesson: Reading I. Aims: - Talking about hobbies - By the end of the lesson students will be able to: + Understand the passage by answering the questions + Know some new words + Develop micro-skill in reading such as, skimming for main ideas - Read and answer the questions about content of the reading II. Teaching aids: pictures, the blackboard, chart, textbook, posters III. Procedures: 1. Greeting and checking attendance 2. checking up 3. New lesson Time Contents Teacher’s activities Student’s activities 1. Warm up Chatting 1. If you have free time, what do you do ? - Listening to music, - Watching TV, - Reading books, - Playing game, - Going out with your friends 2.What do we do in our free time, we call Hobbies. UNIT 13: HOBBIES Lesson: Reading 1. pre-reading: Matching: Hobbies and pictures - Swimming - Keeping fish - Playing chess 5 pictures - Fishing - Playing guitar - Collecting stamps • Vocabulary: 1 .Envelopes / ’enviloup/ (n): phong bì ( realize) 2. Stamp /stæmp/ (n): tem thư(realize) - Ask sts a question - Lead to new lesson - Show some pictures and then ask students to match the pictures with these words - Show the pictures and ask students to work in groups to guess the meaning - Read these words and - Answer - Listen - Match the pictures with these words - Give the answers orally - Repeat 3. Is the writer an accomplished guitarist? 3. Why does the writer admire his uncle? 4. What is the writer’s second hobby? 5. How did he collect his fish? 6. What kind of stamp collector is the writer? 7. where does he collect the stamps? 8. Which does the writer get more of, local stamps or foreign stamps? 9. What does the writer do with the less common stamps and with the common ones * Answer keys 1. The writer’s first hobby is playing guitar Ask SS to listen and repeat - Call some SS read these words - Show two columns on the board, explain and ask students to work in groups of 4 to match - Ask student to work in groups of 4, read the passage and find out the answers - Give 10 minutes , and Ask some Groups write the answers on the board - Give the correct answers - Explain and ask students to work in pairs to answer these questions - Correct students’ - Read these words - Listen and look at the board - Work in groups to match column A with coumn B - Write the answers on the board - take notes - Work in pairs , to find out the answers - Listen and take 2.
