Di An Water Treatment Plant (DAWTP) is making steady progress in improving access to safe water We conduct a field trip and we make its report
This document concern a report of our field trip done on 11 December 2020 at th
DAWTP where we saw the water treatment system This report cover also what we have seen at Di An Water Treatment Plant, it is from this plant where water used in Binh Duong province comes from, where we saw how water from Tan An station- Dong Nai river is treated by following steps: cascade aeration, coagulation addition, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, storage and pumping systems DAWTP is located at Thu Dau Mot town in Binh Duong province The company was established in April 1997, as a governmental company
Di A Water Treatment Plant (DAWTP) is one of seven WTP plants being claimed
by BIWASE The plant was built in 2000 and its activity started in 2004 DAWTP
is situated at A Phu ward, Thuan A locale, which imparts the outskirt to Ho Chi Minh City DAWTP has a limit of 30,000 m3/day and the crude water wellspring
of this treatment plant is Dong Nai River which is the longest stream in Vietnam Dong Nai River is the hotspot for Tri A lake from where the crude water is siphoned for DAWTP This lake capacities to balance out the progression of Dong Nai River in both dry and rainy seasons

Primary pumping station is located at Tan Uyen district and it pumps raw water from Dong Nai River The raw water is pumped to the secondary pumping station located in the main treatment plant Treatment facilities lies at higher elevation to avoid the surface flow entering the WTP The clean water is supplied to the residents of Di An ward and the industrial park located near the WTP

2.1 INTRODUCTION
Di An water treatment plant started working in 2004 Now it has capacity to treat 30,000 m per day.Its intake is near water treatment plant from Dong 3
Nai River Di An treatment plant as other water treatment plant treat water
by the following steps:
1 Intake
2 Course Screen
3 Raw Water Pumps
4 Coagulation (Mixing chamber)
5 Flocculation
6 Sedimentation
7 Filtration
8 Disinfection
9 Pumping system
This process of water treatment plant:
Raw water extraction (Dong Nai River) →Bar screen → Primary raw water pumping station→ Chemical mixing tank → Reaction tank → Horizontal sedimentation → Rapid filtration tank → Clean water tank->Secondary pumping station->Distribution network
2.2 INTAKE
Di An water treatment plant takes water from Dong Nai river, specially Tan
An commune, Thai Hoa ward, Tan Uyen district, Binh Duong province Dong Nai river intake is located at 5km of water treatment
Trang 52.3 COURSE SCREEN
The raw river water passes through a bar screen system (which is installed higher than the surface water level by 0.5 m) to remove the coarse size suspended solid (mainly plastic bags)
2.4 RAW WATER PUMPS
There are 5 submerged pumps with following specification: motor power=
155 kW, capacity= 700 m /h and total head = 70 m 3
The raw river water passes through a bar screen system (which is installed higher than the surface water level by 0.5 m) to remove the coarse size suspended solid (mainly plastic bags) Then two pipes, each with the diameter of 500 mm and length of 45m, transfers water into the vertical sand sedimentation well (L = 2.5 m, W = 1,6 m, H = 10 m) The pumping station
is automatic and keeps running all the time The flow and pumping pressure depends on the demand of the main treatment site The chlorine is injected at this primary station at the dosage of 1 g/m3, to prevent the algae and microorganisms growth
2.5 COAGULATION AND FLOCCULATION
CHEMICAL MIXING TANK
Poly-aluminium chloride (PAC) is added in the water pump from the primary pumping station in this tank The SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system receives the signal from pH and Turbidity meter (installed directly in this tank) and then automatically calculates and apply the chemical dose The water is then transferred to the coagulation and flocculation unit through the distribution tank
The PAC mixing tank
Trang 6CHEMICAL REACTION TANK
This process is called flocculation and Coagulation to support settling of the particles Flocculation is way water passed form shican mixed with coagulant and lime goes in order to mixed in order to favorite the formation
of flocs The mixing is done by electrical mechanical mixer At the inlet of flocculation tank they are small flocculation tank equipped with pipe There are two reaction tanks, each with the dimensions of 9mx13mx5.5m (WxLxH) The hydraulic retention time is 1 hour The effluent of this tank is then transferred to the horizontal sedimentation tank with the velocity (theory required)

Distribution tank

Chemical reaction tank
Trang 82.6 SEDIMENTATION TANK
The sludge generated from sedimentation tank is collected and treated by sludge drying beds They have large amounts of suspended particles, those particles after flocculation in flocculation tank water is conveyed to sedimentation tank where small flocs become bigger and as its density are greater than the density of water settle at the bottom of sedimentation tank and flocs of less density float
The horizontal sedimentation tank is divided into three working states: State 1: Receiving the water from the chemical reaction tank (after coagulation-flocculation process)
State 2: Settling zone The length of the tank is occupied by this zone Hence, normally particles settle in the first half of the tank The sludge will
be removed in the bottom of tank
State 3: Settled water The clean water is collected by a weir system This equipment is installed from the middle of the horizontal tank, below the surface level of water
There are 2 sedimentation tanks, each with the dimension of: L x W x H= 39
x 6 x 3.5 (m)
Tricking filter
Trang 92.7 FILTRATION AND DISINFECTION
FILTRATION PROCESS (SAND FILTER)
There are 5 rapid sand filters The filter media contains: 0.3 m of course stone layer at the bottom and 1.2 m of fine sand (effective diameter of 0.8-1.2 mm) The filtration rate is in the range from 5 – 15 m/h There are two basic types of filter backwashing system: fluidized-bed backwash with surface wash and air scour and water backwash Adopted backwash method is water backwash with air scour, using backwashing pump The average filter run time is around 2 days
The weir that collected clean water after sedimentation process
Trang 10After sedimentation process at it outlet they are a small chamber with a small pipe in order to conduct a solution of chlorine to water come from sedimentation tank This chlorine is used to disinfect water
BACKWASHING
The backwash water from both filters (each with the capacity of 15000 m3/d) is sent back to the chemical mixing tank
2.8 PUMPING SYSTEM
The SCADA system ensure this pumping station is operated 24/24 h.This is
a secondary pumping process that included distribution pump and backwash pump There are 5 pumps (3 operating, 2 standby) with the technical
information as follows:
- Motor: Capacity= 160 kW, Q= 700 m /h 3
The rapid filtration tank The filtration tank with water spray to clean the wall
Trang 112.9 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION FOR DI AN WATER TREATMENT TRIP
As your knowledge, water is second requirement for human life so the water need be treated and to be honest untreated water is the most source of communicable diseases All the water quality parameters must be under the national standard for drinking water (QCVN 01:2009/ BTNMT)
