In recent years, the sports industry in Vietnam has experienced a significant surge

in popularity and growth, creating a fertile ground for a multitude of employment possibilities for sports enthusiasts Especially, when the sports industry in Vietnam is experiencing a renaissance, undergoing a remarkable transformation, this industry is promising a multitude of employment possibilities for individuals passionate about sports with a vibrant sporting culture and an increasing interest in various disciplines Vietnam has offered a broad spectrum of employment possibilities for sports enthusiasts that is being increased every day Whether as athletes, coaches, sports management professionals, or marketing experts, individuals can find fulfilling careers that combine their passion for sports with their professional aspirations By tapping into the growing sporting culture and leveraging the opportunities available, individuals can embark on rewarding and impactful careers within the dynamic world of sports in Vietnam This assignment aims to explore the exciting world and the current stage of employment possibilities in sports in Vietnam, considering factors such as government support, infrastructure development, and the increasing interest of corporate sponsors Moreover, how the sports industry are offering a comprehensive overview of the numerous career paths available to sports enthusiasts

CHAPTER 1: EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN SPORTS IN VIETNAM 1.1 Overview of the sports industry in Vietnam

In a market economy, sports economics is known as an industry, that industry is called the sports industry In Vietnam, the sports industry is considered a part of the national economy The sports industry in Vietnam will include economic activities directly related to sports, such as training or competition Besides, there are indirect economic activities such as production, provision of accompanying services, supply of goods (apparel, tools),

1.1.1 Discuss the growth and the development of the sports industry in Vietnam

The growth and development of the sports industry in Vietnam is expressed through 2 phases Phase 1 (from 1975 - 2000) and phase 2 (from 2001 - 2021)

Phase 1: From 1975 - 2000, building and developing the sports industry

On January 9, 1971, the Vietnam General Department of Sports and Physical Training was established, this department has become the leading agency for sports activities nationwide

Regarding facilities, during this period Vietnam was still facing difficulties after

going through many wars Constructions for physical training and sports activities are only small in scale, with simple equipment, and the service for competitions is still limited However, in 1966, the buildings and facilities for sports activities were fully equipped, ready to serve large-scale domestic and international tournaments

Regarding training a team of athletes, after 25 years of construction and

development, the goal of training athletes in Vietnam is key and long-term training In

1992, among the 11 sports, there were 3 key sports: football, volleyball, and athletics In

1994, there were 14 competitions In 1995, there were 22 competitions In particular, by

2000, Vietnam had 28 competitions domestically, regionally and internationally With a program called "National Sports Program", 2,000 athletes have been recruited to compete in 22 sports

In terms of achievements, Vietnamese athletes have achieved high results in two

arenas, which are the Southeast Asia region and the continental level At the Southeast

Asia regional arena, Sea Games 16, athletes won 7 gold medals; Sea Games 17 athletes

won 9 gold medals; Sea Games 19 number of gold medals won by athletes is 35 At the

continental arena, athlete Tran Hieu Ngan won a silver medal in the women's

Taekwondo event at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 This was the first athlete in Vietnam

to win a medal at the Olympic arena

Regarding the sports movement among the masses, sports are developed

strongly and widely by the masses in 3 main target groups: people, students and armed forces in the army For the people, in order to promote the sports movement, the government launched the "National Sports Festival" in 1983 and the "National Sports Congress" in 1984 - 1985 For pupils and students, about 70% - 80% of schools provide physical education training For the armed forces, up to 90% - 95% of establishments implement physical training regimes

In summary, activities in the sports industry in Vietnam at this stage have built and created a solid foundation for the development of the sports industry in the next stage

Phase 2: From 2001 - 2021, strong development in quantity and quality

During this period, Vietnam transformed and developed strongly in many fields The government is interested in developing the sports industry with the goal of "High performance sports and international cooperation sports"

Regarding facilities, during this period Vietnam's economy gradually developed,

investment in facilities for the sports industry was increased and expanded Sports facilities, equipment and training tools are installed in stadiums, parks and public places

As of 2020, there are 113,000 sports facilities in Vietnam (including 6,000 stadiums; 9,000 training and competition halls; 5,100 swimming pools; 74,000 football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton fields) In particular, in 2003, My Dinh National Stadium was inaugurated to prepare for matches when Vietnam hosted the 22nd Sea Games

Regarding training the team of athletes, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and

Tourism has made a plan to select and train young and talented athletes At the same time, awards are given to experienced athletes and coaches The General Department of Sports has established a Council to select athletes focusing on 2 age groups (from 15 to

18 years old and from 12 to 17 years old) in physical education The total number of young players is about 1,500 people, 300 coaches, 5 experts All members will be evenly distributed to provinces and cities including Hanoi and City Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Can Tho, Bac Ninh There are a total of 16 subjects that will be selected for training and practice, including football, table tennis, athletics, badminton, boxing, Taekwondo and Judo, In particular, football is the top subject The focus in both forms is men's football and women's football

Regarding achievements, Vietnamese athletes have achieved high results in 3

arenas, which are Southeast Asia, Continental level, and World level In Southeast Asia,

in 2003, Vietnam hosted the 22nd Sea Games During the Sea Games, Vietnam won the

team championship for the first time with a total of 156 gold medals, 91 gold medals, silver medals and 93 bronze medals In the Asian arena, in 2002 at ASIAD 14 in Korea,

Vietnamese athletes won 4 gold medals (2 Karatedo gold medals, 1 Billiard - Snooker gold medal, 1 gymnastics gold medal) In addition, in 2009, the Vietnamese sports industry successfully organized the 3rd Asian Games Furthermore, in 2018, the U23 Vietnam team received a silver medal at the U23 Asian Championship in Changzhou -China At the world arena, Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics, shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh brought home the first gold medal for Vietnam In particular, in 2023 the Vietnamese women's football team will participate in the Women's World Cup final and gain many lessons

Regarding the sports movement among the masses, sports are widely popular

among the masses For the people, as of 2010, 25% of the population exercised regularly and by 2021 it will reach 33.1% of the population, there are 40,000 clubs, 30% of local establishments have training grounds For pupils and students, 70% of schools apply physical education and defense education programs For the armed forces, sports is considered one of the four mandatory military training contents, the rate of soldiers participating in regular training reaches nearly 70%

1.1.2 Highlight the popularity of different sports in Vietnam

Like other countries in the world, in Vietnam sports is a factor that helps connect communities within the country and improve physical, mental health for everyone The sports industry in Vietnam saw significant improvement from 1975 onwards, and since then many sports have flourished When it comes to the popularity of sports in Vietnam, some are more popular than others Here are some of the most popular sports in Vietnam

Football is a sport that has appeared in Vietnam since 1896, during the period of French colonial invasion of Vietnam Initially, this sport was introduced in Southern Vietnam, then spread to Northern Vietnam Currently, football in Vietnam is run by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) This football federation manages the Vietnam National football teams, including both the men's football team and the women's football team Besides, this agency is also responsible for football tournaments such as V.League

1, Vietnam's professional national football championship

The difference in football in Vietnam compared to other countries is the strong patriotic spirit Each player participating in the match carries national pride on their shoulders, they wish to defeat their opponents to bring glory to Vietnam Besides, the love of the fans and their enthusiastic support for the teams are the source of strength that helps the teams win Vietnamese fans regardless of age, ethnicity, or religion often come to the stadium and passionately cheer for their team to compete This has received recognition from fans and foreign tourists every time they come to Vietnam on the occasion of matches taking place

1960 through the way overseas Vietnamese returned to the country From 1975 until now, Badminton has developed strongly and widely, it is shown through daily practice movements and even in tournaments The Vietnam Badminton Federation was established in 1990 to devise strategies to develop badminton in Vietnam and bring the sport to compete with countries in Southeast Asia and around the world

From a young age, people follow their favorite teams as they play their nation's top sports Sports are important for a country because it shows people the importance of principles such as leadership, sticking to rules, working in a team, and winning and losing graciously These are important values for Vietnam to have

Sports bring people together

In Vietnam, people come together to play sports Some people play sports with friends, others join sports clubs or become a part of local or national teams Sports play

an important role in society in bringing people together They not only provide entertainment, but also give people an outlet for stress, and physical energy Playing sports is a great way for a community to come together and this is why they are important for a nation

As well as the benefits of playing sports, watching sports can also be key to bring people together Almost everywhere in Vietnam, friends and families get together to watch their teams compete in national and international leagues They show their love for the national team together by marching, celebrating, and flying the national flag From there, sports help strengthen the spirit of solidarity and connection between people with common interests without hesitation about age or ethnicity
