Thuongmai University (abbreviated as TMU) is a public university under the national education system of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Founded in 1960, Thuongmai University is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the large metropolis of Hanoi (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants), Red River Delta Officially recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, Thuongmai University is a medium-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 8,000-8,999 students) coeducational Vietnamese higher education institution Thuongmai University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study Thuongmai University also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sports facilities, as well as administrative services

Today, Thuongmai University is one of the top four economics schools in Vietnam It is among the universities with the fastest brand development while also being a very active learning environment The university is famous not only for education quality, but also the activeness and thoughtful care of students

Besides its strengths, there is no perfect, TMU also has some small downsides Concerning this, our group has carefully researched the strengths and weaknesses, and also found out a 5-year plan to help TMU enhance its competitiveness This is our topic for discussion today

II MAIN CONTENT

As you know, Thuongmai University has 2 campuses in which the head office

is in Hanoi and the 2nd campus is in Ha Nam Thuongmai University is famous for its beautiful campus and modern equipment Stepping through the school gate, you will be amazed at a block of extremely good facilities with a learning area consisting of 4 main lecture halls (G, V, C, D) Especially, the new school has built 11-storey library building as well as a multi-purpose lecture hall, including 7 floors of library with an area of nearly 6,000 m2 designed according to the model of common learning space, each floor is designed according to the idea, unique and most modern in the North at

the present time The remaining 4 floors (from the 8th floor to the 11th floor) are used

for teaching and learning with 28 classrooms, of which 12 rooms are from 80 to 100

seats; 16 rooms are 40 - 60 seats The remaining buildings such as F, T, I, U building the offices of school staff

Not only serving learning and research, students' accommodation is also meticulously invested by the school with an industrial park such as a 5-star hotel The entire dormitory is planned in a separate area, with a student cafeteria, garden, fence, sports area with supporting equipment has just been installed ensuring security and order and having little impact on other areas when operating Including a sports complex and canteen (S building) consisting of 3 floors 1st floor includes: Student service area - canteen combined with billiards area, technical room The 2nd floor includes kitchen, warehouse, multi-purpose area, common bathroom, refreshment area The 3rd floor is a physical education area It is fully equipped for students both materially and spiritually

A good university is one that must have good faculty According to wikipedia, the teaching staff of TMU are mostly professors and doctorates, at the request of the Ministry of Education, including 610 people, divided into 2 categories: full-time

lecturers and visiting lecturers The current permanent faculty of the school is 440 people, including 3 professors 45 , associate professors 141 doctorates, and 296 masters Visiting lecturers include 170 people including 2 professors 11 associate,

professors, 40 doctorates 69 masters, Typical teachers in the school council such as Assoc Prof Dr Bui Huu Duc - Chairman of the School Council, Secretary of the Party Committee, Assoc Dr Nguyen Hoang - Principal, Assoc Prof Dr Nguyen Hoang Viet

- subprincipal, Prof Dr Nguyen Thi Bich Loan - subprincipal… The teachers also have many excellent achievements in each department, such as the English department - the translation department, the teachers of the Department all complete the annual research volume target as prescribed by the University, in which many scientific topics have been published in the proceedings of international and national scientific conferences, participated in writing articles for the Scientific Conference of the Faculty, the Conference of Scientific Information at the Departmental level

Currently, Thuongmai University is rejuvenating its teaching staff, there are many young lecturers who are masters and doctors Not only are they good at their profession, but they are also very active and enthusiastic in imparting knowledge as

well as life skills to students As a school in the economic sector, in an integrated economy, the teaching of foreign languages has also become urgent Meeting the needs

of the market and social trends, foreign language training at Thuongmai University is

very focused Nearly 1/6 of lecturers in the school have participated in visiting

lectures, studying abroad, in countries with developed education such as: USA, UK, France, Sweden, Netherlands

According to Wikipedia, on 30/03/2018, the Center for Education Accreditation (Hanoi National University) certified Thuongmai University meets the education quality standards issued by the Minister of Education and Training With a satisfactory percentage of 85.2%. Equivalent to the University of Foreign Trade, higher than the National Economics University and the Banking Academy

Thuongmai University was established in 1960, a multidisciplinary training school, leading in the fields of economics and trade in Vietnam with 14 majors with 19 majors

at university level, 6 majors at master's level and 5 majors at doctoral level The training scale of the school is currently over 20,000 students and trainees, of which, University level: about 4000 full-time students/year; Master's degree is about 600

-700 graduate students/year; Doctoral level is about 60 - 70 doctoral students / year Thuongmai University is 1 of the first 20 universities in the country that have conducted self-assessment and registered for accreditation of educational institutions according to the Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; recognized as

Ministry of Education and Training with the rate of satisfactory criteria of 85.2%.

It can be mentioned that Mrs Nguyen Thi Doan: the former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2007 - 2016) She studied and graduated from Thuongmai University After graduating, she became a lecturer and held the position of headmaster in 1993 She is a Professor, Doctor of Economics and holds an Advanced Degree in Political Theory Nguyen Thi Doan joined the Communist Party of Vietnam

on July 11, 1982 On July 25, 2007, at the first session of the 12th National Assembly, she was elected to hold the position of Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam after Truong My Hoa decided to retire in 2007 Nguyen Thi Doan is considered one of the most experienced and powerful female politicians in Vietnam's politics, alongside other female politicians such as Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and other prominent female politicians

Although the facilities are generally very good, Thuongmai University cannot avoid having some minor shortcomings in the facilities system such as: Hanoi campus dormitory has a smaller number of student accommodation, it is more difficult to register for dormitory accommodation than Ha Nam campus dormitory Ha Nam Dormitory: Capacity of nearly 1000 accommodations for students Hanoi Dormitory: Capacity 700 accommodations for students, divided into two zones A and B Of course there is a difference in size but both dormitory facilities have good facilities and are very modern Another downside is the garage: Our team has conducted a small survey with the participation of 100 students inside and outside the faculty, filtered out the opinions of 59.3% out of 100 students
