teachers in using Wordwall.net to teach children at Dream Sky English Center Author: Nguyen My Sinh, a fourth-year student of Faculty of Foreign Languages at Banking Academy of Vietnam Advisor: Mr Pham Nhu Luan (PhD), a lecturer of Faculty of Foreign Languages at Banking Academy of Vietnam Abstract: Web-based learning has piqued the interest of educators in recent years due to its flexibility, low cost, and time-saving benefits, among other things, for its potential to improve language teaching and learning experiences both during and after the pandemic The purpose of this research is to investigate English teachers' perspectives and attitudes toward using Wordwall.net to teach children at Dream Sky English Center, as well as the effects of the tool on students The major data collection tool was a questionnaire The researcher obtained 54 responses after sending out the questionnaire To provide enough data for the current investigation, a quantitative data analysis method was applied After reviewing the questionnaire results, the researcher discovered that the majority of teachers were enthusiastic about utilizing Wordwall.net to teach English This application enabled children vii CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction The rapid progress of technological innovation has led us into a new era When it regards communication, distance does not matter Long-distance interaction among areas, nations, as well as continents has become feasible with the advent of the Internet And as we all know, the covid 19 epidemic broke out strongly at the beginning of 2020 around the world, affecting every aspect of human life, including language education To lessen the virus's effect, the Ministry of Education migrates from in-person to virtual learning Online education has become a critical technique to resume normal teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic and to better manage and avoid the virus spreading (Chen et al., 2020) In a flash, children transitioned from in-person interactions that offered them essential interpersonal relationships to spending hours sitting in front of a computer In Vietnam, the transition to online courses occurred rapidly, mostly due to schools that had prior online educational tools operating and the ability to administer them According to Almaiah et al (2020), people did their greatest to react to the closure in a variety of ways using current learning approaches such as mobile learning, Elearning, and flip classrooms Following there, educational apps such as Zoom, Google Classroom, Kahoot!, Blackboard, Quizizz, and others quickly have shown their effectiveness First and foremost, educational apps directly address learners' mental health, allowing them to perceive and absorb knowledge from a new perspective The software helps children comprehend the principles by presenting them with difficult tasks, puzzles, and learning activitiess Learners will efficiently acquire knowledge and apply it to everyday situations if the learning activities are interesting to them (Ausubel in Laali, 2019) Pambudi (2022), like Ausubel, believed that significant growth may happen only when learners connect novel phenomena with existing intellectual frameworks A wide range of enjoyable and difficult tasks provide opportunities for a valuable education This novelty in the context of learning excites and that the majority of those taking part agree with the items in Wordwall.net's features More specifically, items B1 and B2 received the highest paired score of 3.76, indicating that teachers agree with the statements "Teachers can create both interactive and printable activities on Wordwall.net" and "It is simple to create activities using the Wordwall template system." Twenty participants were unsure about the ease of creating learning resources using Wordwall There are only three students that say "disagree" or "strongly disagree" about this issue 32 Furthermore, half of the teachers discovered that Wordwall offers a variety of interchangeable exercises, and the other half chose the "neutral" section Therefore, only 1.9 percent of all respondents disagree with the statement The researcher's goal in the fourth statement is to determine whether Wordwall's premade activities can be easily customized to meet the demands of teachers As a result, the answer encompasses several levels of agreement: Although 46% of teachers agreed or strongly agreed with the statement, 19 respondents (35.2%) still doubt its flexibility in customizing activities The remaining teachers (18.6%) chose the "disagree" and "strongly disagree" options When it came to the fifth object, roughly 55.5 percent of teachers thought that making activities public to share among teachers was a good idea Approximately 27.8 percent not recognize this feature, while 16.7 percent are unsure In the final question, nearly one-third of teachers stated that Wordwall is not available in various languages Still, 46.2% of teachers strongly agree or agree with this positive feature of the educational tool The “neutral” section remains quite high proportions with 25.9 % 4.3.3 Discussion on the features of Wordwall.net The teacher experiences are aided by the numerous functions in the Wordwall.net application, based on the above overview Teachers can choose whether to use activities directly on the app or on paper based on their needs Additionally, creating and utilizing teaching activities on Wordwall received positive feedback Wordwall, in essence, enables you to develop interactive web-based resources for usage in class or at home Exercises are frequently games, but they can also be used to bring more traditional coursebook exercises, such as pairing puzzles, to reality It is incredibly simple to build a material - Considering the results of this measure, it is possible to conclude that using Wordwall improves pupil involvement in the learning environment Second, when it pertains to students paying attention in a Wordwall lesson, more than half of the teachers are satisfied This is acceptable and totally consistent with the preceding principles because students enjoy and participate in the activities, which enhances their full concentrate on the lesson Finally, teachers may struggle to determine whether Wordwall can increase participation in person or not Based on some professors' assumptions, students may lag behind or be reluctant to communicate in class However, more than half of them is positive about this viewpoint, believing that teachers and students can still interact directly with one another For example, after answering a question with the matching word and image, the teacher could ask other pupils about the definition or construct a sentence with the term Furthermore, increasing interaction with students in the classroom is simple by designing questions and selecting templates appropriate for the lesson 38 CHAPTER 5: CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION This chapter presents the study's principal findings and underlines its effects and consequences Ultimately, as the main purpose of the study, some recommendations were made to teachers at the Dream Sky English Center in order to provide them with instructions on how to effectively implement the use of Wordwall.net in teaching and learning 5.1 Summary of the findings This study reports the quantitative research with questionnaires to acquire knowledge regarding teachers' perceptions and attitudes toward the use of Wordwall.net in English education After reviewing the questionnaire results, the researcher discovered that the majority of teachers were enthusiastic about utilizing Wordwall.net to teach and learn English It was acknowledged to be not only simple to use and enjoyable to learn in, but also to have numerous advantages in increasing pupils' English abilities Second, Wordwall has many features that not only benefit teachers in their teaching but also stimulate children's development, such as a variety of types of exercises (online or in print), many types of exercises, and is interchangeable depending on the situation, etc Finally, teachers' attitudes and perceptions about the effects of Wordwall on students must be addressed in order to improve learning efficiency According to the survey results, the majority of students favored employing Wordwall.net in class The majority of students enjoyed learning through Wordwall.net, which may have increased their involvement and interest Furthermore, incorporating Wordwall into the classroom may encourage students to interact and communicate more than in traditional ways 5.2 Recommendations The outcomes of this research might not be comprehensible to different secondlanguage educational settings because of the shortage of time as well as a relatively small number of respondents Since this is an initial investigation, it is suggested that a larger number of samples could be employed in the future to broaden the study The 39 investigator should include other centers or schools in future studies because a larger sample size might assist generalization and become more reliable for the information being analyzed Yet, according to the results of the research, language teachers who want to use Wordwall in their classes may be given a number of practical recommendations To begin, when incorporating Wordwall content into a class, students need to be at the focal point The duty of teachers is to plan, guide, and secure the well-being of their pupils They must be educated on the use of online teaching platforms in the classroom through training programs Teachers must provide thorough directions on how to take part in each activity so that students can readily grasp and follow them They ought to nevertheless refrain from interrupting kids all over the exercises, since this could decrease the students' excitement, thereby affecting the flow of the session Following the activity, teachers must point out any errors in grammar, vocabulary, or speaking pronunciation, allowing learners to learn from themselves as well Secondly, the learning resources on Wordwall should be appropriate and relevant They ought to be tailored to the individual's understanding, context, character, age, and even gender as well When selecting tasks, teachers must keep in mind that the tasks have to suit the pupil's proficiency level and not fall too far beyond the pupil's spectrum of skills, or the student may become anxious and frustrated Nevertheless, the resources should not be overly simple Teachers should allow children to get used to the huge amount of knowledge they need to access by using their brains, fingers, and mouths to increase their involvement in class Thirdly, teachers should conduct studies into 40 present research should be broadened to encompass many sorts of educational platforms in education for an improved result 5.3 Conclusions The research as a whole was designed to investigate teacher's perceptions and attitudes on using Wordwall.net to teach children The second goal is to determine the effects of Wordwall on students Teachers will find out how to use this tool to improve the quality of education as a result of the findings and discussion Teachers can learn more about Wordwall's features and their effects on this tool through this study, and it is also an excellent opportunity for teachers to explore the complete effects of Wordwall on their pupils Regardless of the beneficial details provided by this research, some limitations are impossible to avoid To begin, a few other exciting and valuable research approaches, such as doing interviews, are not employed in this research Furthermore, the sample population consists solely of Dream Sky English Center teachers As a result, the findings may not apply to other teachers For the purpose of obtaining broader results, future research on this topic might involve a larger group of teachers In relation to advances in technology, the usage of Wordwall in English instruction is anticipated to increase in the coming years The English method of instruction will be more focused on students while taking up a smaller amount of time As a consequence, it aims to improve teaching quality while also effectively developing learners applied English skills In summary, the research found that using Wordwall.net
