successfully complete its tasks and works most effectively, as follow: Boar d of Director s I nter national Relations, Bor der M anagement and Consular Division I nspection Division Office Diagram every day, only or sessions per week The internship plan is also simple: Mr Phuc introduced the functions, tasks, main activities of DER, career orientations, and assigned some practical jobs to beat Theor etical lear ning Because the epidemic of COVID-19 happened complicatedly, I did not need to go to the Department in the first weeks of my internship Instead, Mr Phuc shared all the documents related to foreign affairs (not only English but also many other languages), other jobs, and other classic books that foreign affairs workers must memorize so that I can read at home For example Diplomatic Protocol, General information about An Giang Province, An Giang - Japan cooperation, and so on In addition, I also had another task of writing a CV and prepared for an interview while gathering at the Department after weeks Job inter view This activity took place in the third week of the internship and it partially made the instructor understand more about each intern and what is the expectation of the internship at DER This was the first assignment of the internship, I had to write a CV submitted earlier On the day of the meeting at the Department would briefly describe myself, and explained why I want to an internship at DER This exercise was done as a real interview when going to a job interview, Mr Phuc was an employer and I am a job seeker Through this exercise, I can learn more about how to make a good first impression on others with proper, polite gestures and remember making eye contact during the interview And one more thing very useful for job applications in the future is when recruiting, employers are always attracted by the way of presenting an impressive CV or resume The important thing is to say enough (not redundant - overstate, lack information information to convince the employer to hire) Picture CV in the first task not enough Tr anslation As expected, translation is already on every student's to-do list during their internship at the DER 3.1 Translating from English to Vietnamese On the fourth week, the first translation exercise was a pretty easy personalized exercise, translating the diplomatic note No.NV/112/NVCC/2021 with the subject: "Making/collecting photos and videos showing Buddhist linkages between India and Vietnam in Oc Eo Cultural Relie area in March 2021" That week, I also had the task of group translation for a 20-page document - " Strategic Management of Stakeholders: Theory and Practice", with 11 students participating in the internship, so it was divided into three groups (two groups of members and a group of members) The team leader divided the documents equally and the members took over each part and completed it in the best way After that, the group had a group meeting to correct mistakes or contribute ideas for better translation This task not only evaluates the translation but also serves to share experiences in negotiation and teamwork On the fifth week, the task need to be completed are quite numerous and difficult So, 11 students were divided into groups to be able to complete the assignment better And the document to be translated this week is "Job attraction and career choice motivation in a socialist-market economy: the case of the young Vietnamese workforce" This document aims to explain the career choice motivation of young workers in a non-Western setting, Vietnam Moreover, on the same deadline, there was a document "Reverse Bloom: A new hybrid approach to experiential learning for a new world" and 18 slides of PowerPoint about "Behavioral Adaptability in VUCA" 3.2 Translating from Vietnamese to English On the sixth week, continued with translation tasks for the group The first assignment was a Circular about Guiding the execution of tax liability applicable to foreign organizations, individuals business, or earning incomes in Vietnam letter of intent between the People's Committee of Ha Tinh Province, the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and Ministry of Economics, Labor and Public Health of Mecklenburg Vorpommern State, the Federal Republic of Germany refers to the implementation of some projects to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, exploit the strengths of each side to complement, support each other in socio-economic development, and improve the quality of life of the people The above assignments gave me a lot of difficulties and took me a lot of time to learn economic terminology and had difficulty with sentence structure problems when translating into English Simulation of welcoming I ndian delegation On the seventh week, Mr Phuc assigned me and my friends a special task which is to simulate the role of An Giang meeting to welcome the delegation and work with the Indian consulate This is an activity to help me and my friends better visualize a reception of consulates from differen t countries to An Giang province instead of just watching a video or just through stories This was a new and exciting experience that has helped expand my knowledge During the stimulation, there would be several situations that were arisen out of the scenario I also learned how to respond and quickly think about solving a problem other than the scenario that happens suddenly This was a simulation for a courtesy between the leaders of An Giang province and the Consul General and the delegation of the Indian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City Before the simulation, we had weeks to prepare before the seventh week of the internship This activity was fairly new, my friends and I had never learned or interacted so I did not know how to write the script and organize the program But with the help of Ms Ngan, we already knew how to this activity After learning how to it, about friends participated in writing detailed scripts for a social greeting The rest of my friends, including me, would find information on the internet about cooperation between An Giang and India in education, health, agriculture, and commerce, or achievement over the past years has been achieved through the An Giang-India cooperation During the courtesies, there would be representatives of An Giang province as the president of An Giang province, leaders of relevant departments such as Director of the Department of An Giang External Relations, Director of the Department of An Giang Agriculture, Director of the Department of An Giang Industry And Trade and Chief of Office of An Giang and the representative of the Indian consulate delegation was Consul General of India in HCM city, Agricultural Counselor, Industry and Trade Counselor and Secretary, In addition, there should be two more interpreters to help the two sides exchange easily (because lack of the people, the secretary of the Indian delegation would in charge of the translation) and a receptionist from the Department in charge of post-production standards Before the courtesy began, the provincial leaders welcomed the delegation in the lobby and then invite them into the meeting room when the India Consulate's delegation arrives Opening the meeting with the two sides greeted each other and introduced leaders of the departments, then the provincial president and Consul General spoke on the achievements in the cooperation between the two sides Usually, only the leaders of the two sides talked to each other during the meeting But this was just a simulation and Mr Phuc wished everyone would have a dialogue, so the conversation between the leaders changed, each person was responsible for giving a brief statement about their field Therefore, the script in the script would be spoken by the characters responsible for their field At the end of the courtesy, the two sides gave thanks, promises, gifts and take a souvenir photo together Pr esentation In the last week of the internship, the final task was a group presentation with the topic chosen by the group among the topics that Mr Phuc gave 11 students were divided into three groups (two groups had members and a group had members) Each group has about hour to present their chosen topic in our mother tongue - Vietnamese and write a 2000 word summary in English My group had to choose one of the following topics: - External information - Introduction to a local or a university - The issue of sea and island sovereignty - History of diplomacy - Introduction of a policy (national strategy on green growth, poverty reduction, competitiveness) - Diplomatic green book - International treaties international agreements - English translation and interpretation services Picture Simulation of welcoming Indian delegation After my group considered and decided to choose the topic History of diplomacy to the present because this is a pretty interesting topic and it relates to the history of Vietnam as well as the history of diplomacy The group leader had a meeting with Mr Phuc to receive the documentary "Glorious 70 years of diplomatic history" and he was instructed on what to learn to prepare for this topic After receiving the document, the group had about days to read them, search for more information on the Internet, and briefly summarize important milestones in the history of diplomacy After that, there was a group meeting for members to share the information we found and divided a detailed period to learn more thoroughly and deeply for the presentation Although attached to history, this is a difficult topic because I had to read the document and a lot of information to filter out information about the diplomatic contributions in each timeline If I am not careful, I will go astray and will skew the history of Vietnam The amount of information on this topic is very large, confusing when reading and preparing the content Before the presentation day, I had group meetings to complete the content and the PowerPoint for the presentation, the purpose of the meeting is to practice in advance to make the presentation more fluent On the day of the presentation, I had to be at the office at 7:00 am because each group took a long time to give a presentation During the presentation, Mr Phuc could interrupt the presenter to fix the mistakes, ask questions and share relevant information I I Advantages and Disadvantages Advantages During this internship at DER, I have had several advantages that have enabled us to complete this internship effectively Firstly, DER's location is very close to my home which helps me move more conveniently, faster, and save more time In addition, Mr Phuc has given us English-related jobs, creating opportunities for me to practice and develop my skills He also gave me some materials and tips to help us gain more knowledge and better prepare for tasks and presentations Disadvantages My biggest disadvantage is the lack of knowledge and vocabulary about political or social spheres It took me more time to learn more about it Spending time learning new information slows down the performance of assigned tasks Besides, I realize that I lack more creativity than others in presentation design I usually choose simple styles and few colors I need to learn a lot about color, picture, sound, and video designed to make presentations more engaging and less boring To overcome these difficulties, I started the habit of spending 30 minutes a day reading books or newspapers that are related to society, education, economy, or politics Now that the Internet is very developing, I can read online books with my mobile phone Besides, if I get bored with reading books, I will switch to watch presentation design tutorial videos That is very helpful for me to able to improve my presentation more interesting and creative I I I Exper ience Application of specialized knowledge and skills During the internship, I had the opportunity to practice most of the knowledge that I have been taught at AGU I use my English skills in a more frequent and influential way With many translation tasks, I had the opportunity to practice my translation skills In many types of fields, I had to use a different writing style As a result, I was able to expand my vocabulary in many fields and was able to improve my translation skills In addition, when preparing for the final presentation, I have to use many of the skills taught at AGU such as computer skills, time management skills, presentation skills, reading comprehension skills, and note-taking skills 2 I nter nship attainments The interesting internship at DER ended well and I have a lot of new and useful knowledge I experienced a new workspace and also learned how to work with others effectively More importantly, I realized how limited my vocabulary and understanding of society and politics were This may not be good for my life, especially in my future work I was encouraged to spend more time reading books, newspapers, watching the news (especially English news), giving presentations in front of a mirror, talking with classmates (in English of course) to improve my vocabulary, reading, listening, and speaking skill and up-to-date knowledge about the world Furthermore, I was consulted about a meeting between officials of different countries such as how to allocate seats appr opriately, how to welcome other people In addition, this also adds knowledge to my communication skills Now I know how to start a conversation, stretch it, and make it more interesting PART C: CONCL USI ON AND SUGGESTI ONS I Conclusion I cannot deny that this internship has given me a lot of practical experience An internship at DER is a great opportunity for me to further practice my skills he internship period was only short weeks, but it was enough for me to realize the shortcomings that I need to overcome and improve as well as my strengths I became more self-controlled and skilled after only a short period of practice I have gained a lot of knowledge and the ability to work professionally and think carefully The internship helped complete my baggage so that I was ready for a practical job after graduation I I Suggestions for students and the Faculty of For eign L anguages of An Giang Univer sity Students should identify and select a company/organization that suits their interests and majors Students then have to learn, deepen, and gather the necessary s kills for the field in which they will practice because English is just a support tool for work Students should contact regularly their superiors to exchange and f ind solutions to problems occurring during internships The Faculty of Foreign Languages of An Giang University needs to inform students of all information about their internship time such as the time, the chosen location as soon as possible The sooner students get clear information, the better their preparation is REFERENCES http://songoaivu.angiang.gov.vn/
