Lesson (1, 2, 3) I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: Knowledge: - Asking and answering questions about someone’s opinions of a book/ story/ character - Use What you think of …….-> I think…………….to show someone’s opinions of a book/story/ character - Listen to and demonstrate understanding of simple communicative contexts in relation to the topic “someone’s opinions of a book/story/ character” * Sentence Patterns: What you think of …… -> I think…………… * Vocabularies: kind, hard – working, greedy, intelligent Skills: - Reading, listening and speaking Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers - Be confident in sharing their opinions of a book/story/ character with friends/ teachers - Love book and read book/ story more Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ group work) - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves - Use language to talk about the opinions of a book/story/ character II Teaching aids: - Active board, book, recordings and pictures III Methods: PPP (Listen and repeat, open dialogue, picture drill) IV Time: 35 minutes V Procedure: Stages/Time 1.Warm- up: (3’) Teacher’s activities Game: Who tells the story more? HTQC: Chơi có định hướng Kĩ thuật: suy nghĩ, thảo luận, chia sẻ Đặc điểm : - Tạo vui vẻ, khơng khí lớp học sơi Students’ activities trước bắt đầu học *Aims: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson *Procedure: - Give the rule of the game: - T devides class in to two groups ( A& B) - Ask Ss of each group to tell a name of the story which Ss learnt - Which team can’t tell the name of the story in seconds will be lose * Lead in: To show the opinions of the story/ book / character we will learn “Unit 14, Lesson (1,2,3)” 2.Presentation Activity Vocabulary *Aims: Ss will be able to know the (16’) vocabulary in front of starting the new lesson *Procedure: - Ask ss to look at the pictures and describe them - Ask Ss to identify the name of the things in the room and describe them in Vietnamese - Introduce the new words: words + intelligent : thông minh + greedy : tham lam + kind : tử tế - Ss listen - Ss play the game - Ss open their books -Ss look and answer (picture) (picture) (picture) + hard-working : chăm (picture) + Call the name of the words in English + Read new words first + Have Ss repeat many times + Correct the pronunciation mistakes + Give feedbacks * Check vocabularies: - Give the rules to Ss + There are the Vietnamese words and the English answers A,B,C - Ss chose the correct word on the screen - Check their comprehension by giving some questions - Give feedbacks - - Ss listen and repeat + Choral repetition (3 times) + Individual repetition (3 ss) - Ss take note - Ss look, remember and write Activity Listen, point and repeat: *Aims: Ss will be able to understand and correctly repeat the sentences in four communicative contexts (pictures) to tell their opinions about the story/book/character *Procedure: - Have Ss look at Pictures and identify the characters in each picture -Look at the pictures and get to know the characters in the pictures -Ss listen and repeat in chorus (twice) 3.Practice: (7’) - Play the recording once for the ss - Play the recording again, sentence by sentence, for Ss to listen and repeat individually and in chorus - T checks pronunciation for ss - Ask Ss to practise the dialogue in: + T- the whole class + The whole class- T + Two groups +Work in pairs (1 weak student + good student) - Check some groups, pairs - Correct their pronunciation If necessary - Draw Ss’s attention to the sentences What you think of……/ I think…… Tell them that the sentence What you think of……/ I think…… is used to tell their opinions about the story/book/character Activity Listen, point and say *Aims: Ss will be able to correctly say the words and use What you think of……/ I think……to to tell their opinions about -Ss work in pairs to practice -Ss practice the diaguage -Ss listen the story/book/character *Procedure: * Model sentences: - T asks Ss look at pictures and helps Ss know the structure from the dialogue - T introduces new structure for Ss - T explains, models and gives meaning - Have Ss repeat the model sentences -Ss look at the picture and answer -Ss listen -Ss listen and repeat What you think of…… -> I think…… *Drill pictures - Have Ss look at the pictures and elicit the things in the room 4.Production: (7’) - Ss look, listen and answer -Ss practice in chorus -Ss work in pairs to practice -Ss note -Ss perform in front of the class Have ss look at the picture and identify what is it/ what are they - Have ss read all words - Call ss to read - Ask Ss to practise in pairs (1 weak student + good student) - Give the help - Call Ss to perform in front of the class - Ask Ss to point the picture in the screen and say “What you think of…… -> I think……” - Ask other pupils to give comments - Give comments Activity Let’s talk *Aims: Ss will be able to enhance the correct use of What you think of…… -> I think…… tell their opinions about the story/book/character - Listen * Game: Brown squirrel and a corn - Listen to music and “HTQC: Chơi có định hướng pass the pen Kĩ thuật: Suy nghĩ, thảo luận, chia sẻ Đặc điểm : Tạo vui vẻ, khơng khí lớp học sơi làm nhiệm vụ.” - Give the rule of the game: + T shows the questions and asks Ss to write the answers in the board + The Ss have more correct answers are good - Check their comprehension by giving some questions to weak and ordinary Ss If Ss don’t understand, T will give the rule of the game again and the task as a model - Correct their pronunciation mistakes when necessary - Start the game - Give feedbacks - Answer the question - Play game - Ask Ss some questions: 1/ What kinds of stories you like?
