It is a fun, exciting and busy time for classrooms, teachers, students, and families It can also be stressful as calendars fill with activities, tasks, appointments, and events The best way to help our children succeed in school is to plan each week with them Homework, end of the year projects, sporting events, family functions, and evening school programs crowd the calendar making planning and organization key to in every child’s routine With the spring comes sun and now is the right time to remind our families and our students of the Arleta dress code We acknowledge that fashion and what is deemed appropriate dress is to some extent a matter of opinion As a learning environment, we require that dress is appropriate to the setting We ask the students of all ages following the same dress code guidelines: • Under garment should not be seen above the waist band or from off the sleeve Sagging is not allowed, whether your shirt covers the belt line or not • Tops must have sleeves covering the shoulders and closing beneath the arm pit • Tops with spaghetti straps or tank tops are not to be worn alone but rather with a second shirt or sweater • No Midriffs and bare back clothing • The bottom hem of shorts and skirts should ! not be shorter than the tip of the index finger when arms are to one’s side • All items of clothing must be free from alcohol or drug references or derogating messages If a student comes to school dressed inappropriately, he/ she will be given something appropriate to wear over their clothing or will be asked to call home to have something brought in to school Please, never hesitate to contact me with any question, comment, or concern 503.916.6330 kevinc@pps.net Arleta Receives National GEAR UP Grant !
