Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow at University of Wyoming The Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow at the University of Wyoming hereby establishes this constitution in order to guide the organization towards fulfilling its purpose Article I Name Section A The name of this organization will be the Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow at the University of Wyoming (ACT-UW) B This organization is affiliated or a student chapter of the Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow Article II Purpose Section ACT-UW is willing to abide by all policies established by the University of Wyoming Section The purpose of this organization is: A B C D E To encourage interest and relationships in agricultural communications; To allow for the exchange of ideas among students and faculty and other ACT chapters; To network through the organization, along with other communication organizations; To provide professional and academic development for members; To promote agriculture through communication efforts Article III Membership Section Membership shall be open to all registered students in good standing at the University of Wyoming Section Members in ACT are automatically members of National ACT and are entitled to the privileges and benefits of such affiliation Section The ACT-UW admits students without regard to their race, gender, religion, color, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, creed, ancestry, political belief, or any other applicable protected category and affords each member all the rights, privileges, programs, and other activities generally accorded or made available to members of the organization Article IV Officers Section The Executive Officers of ACT-UW shall consist of a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer CAC Approved 10/22/18 (J Kirk) A The President shall be the executive head of this chapter and shall preside over its meetings and shall have the power to call special meetings when considered necessary The President shall have the power to appoint any officers or committees not provided for by the Constitution and shall have the authority to preside over any committee of this chapter B The Vice President shall assist the President in the performance of the President’s duties and shall succeed to those powers and duties in the absence or disability of the President In the event of a permanent vacancy, the Vice President shall function as President until an election can be held C The Secretary shall keep accurate and complete minutes of all meeting of this chapter; shall be the custodian of all records, files, and documents of this chapter, expect the financial books of account; shall be responsible for the general correspondence of this chapter; and shall keep a list of membership D The Treasurer shall keep an accurate account of all funds received and expended, and shall make expenditures only upon written authorization of the Chapter President The Treasurer shall be the custodian of all financial books of account of this chapter; shall deposit all funds in the name of and to the credit of this chapter; and shall prepare a budget for the academic year Section All Officers must maintain a cumulative and semester 2.0 GPA in order to remain in their position Should their GPA fall below 2.0, they will be removed from their position, and a special election organized by the remainder of the Officer Committee will be held Section Any officer may be removed from membership by a two-thirds vote of the Officer Committee Any officer removed may appeal to the general membership Said officer shall be considered reinstated with two-thirds approval of the members Article V Operations/Elections Section Election of Officers A The officers shall be elected each spring semester to allow time to prepare the budget, revise the constitution as needed, and prepare registration forms for the coming year B Officers are elected and activated each April for a period of one year C All candidates shall inform the President two weeks prior to running, however, nomination will be allowed on the floor D One (1) week prior to the election, all candidates will have the opportunity to speak as to their qualifications and answer questions to aid in the membership as they determine who to vote for E Voting shall be by secret ballot F A two-thirds majority of all votes cast shall be necessary for election Section In the instances where an Officer is not able to complete their term, the position shall be filled by a person elected by a simple majority vote of the members of the ACT-UW CAC Approved 10/22/18 (J Kirk) Section Following each selection or change of any officer/advisor, the Campus Activities Center will be notified Article VI Meetings Section The ACT-UW meeting times shall be determined and announced by the Officer Committee prior to the first week of the fall semester Section Special meetings of this chapter may be called by the President or by a majority vote of the Officer Committee Notice of such special meetings must be given in writing or email to each member at least forty-eight (48) hours before the scheduled starting time of the special meeting; said notice must state the time, place and purpose for the special meeting Section The meetings shall include a quorum, order of business, and disposition of the minutes Article VII Finances Section The ACT-UW is funded through membership dues and ASUW: A Each member shall pay yearly dues, a portion of which goes to ACT-UW and the remainder to the National ACT B Annual chapter dues will be set each fall semester C Dues will not be refunded to any member dropped by the chapter Section In the event that the organization is dissolved, all remaining funds collected will be sued to pay off any debts incurred by the organization Remaining funds shall be returned to their original sources Any additional remaining funds will be donated to ASUW for use by RSO Funding Board to support other student organizations Article VIII Amendments Section Any proposed amendments to this Constitution must be presented and discussed at least one (1) week prior to voting takes place Section This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of those members at the meeting Section After University recognition is granted, any proposed changes in the approved constitution or bylaws must be presented to the Campus Activities Center for approval, and such changes shall not be effective until approval is granted CAC Approved 10/22/18 (J Kirk)
