If you like to play sports, make new friends, and are at least 16-years-old, then Special Olympics New Jersey’s College Unified Sports program at Kean University may be for you! College Unified Sports brings together people with disabilities (athletes) and college students without disabilities (Unified partners) to play on the same teams The concept was inspired by a simple principle: training and playing together is a quick path to friendship, understanding and acceptance Special Olympics New Jersey has teamed up with Kean to offer a free Unified Sports program The Unified Sports club plans to run a Unified soccer league in the fall and a Unified basketball league in the winter/ spring Prior to participating, athletes must register with Special Olympics New Jersey, and have a valid medical form on file Athletes should be comfortable playing in a competitive team sports setting, and have a basic understanding of soccer and/or basketball game rules Kean Unified Sports teams will play once per week for a total of 4-6 weeks each season Dates and times may vary If you are interested in joining Kean Unified Sports, please email UnifiedSports@SONJ.org
