Ataturk University Delegation Members Hikmet KOCAK Rector, Ataturk University Professor of Cardio Vascular Surgery Kocak is graduated from one of the best medical schools, Cerrahpasa, at Istanbul University He has specialized on Cardio Vascular Surgery during the years of 1979-1984 at Ataturk University and worked in several hospitals as specialist doctor and became assistant professor of Cardio Vascular Surgery at Ataturk University He conducted research as visiting scholar in London St Tomas Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1989-90 and 1992-93 respectively then became full professor in 1995 at Ataturk University He has more than 250 publications and reports on the subjects of his study area He was elected as rector of Ataturk University in June 2008 and reelected in June 2012 for his second term Under his leadership, Ataturk University became larger, more internationalized and influential university nationally and internationally Sebahattin TUZEMEN Vice President Professor of Physics Tuzemen had his bachelor& master degree in the department of Physics at Ataturk University on the major of Solid State Physics Besides, he had his Ph.D at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, Electrical Engineering and Electronics; Solid State Electronics, England in 1993 Institut National des Sciences et Techniques Nucléaires- Paris is the place where he had his post-doctoral studies He have been working as full Professor since 1999 at Atatürk University He was also the fulbright visiting scholar at Wake Forest University, USA in 20002001 He served as the Dean of Faculty of Science between the years 2000-2003 and Vice-President of Ataturk University since 2003 He has more than 60 publications in SCI indexed journals and more than 40 proceedings presented in national and international conferences Fahri YAVUZ Head, Office of International Office Professor of Agricultural Economics Yavuz had bachelor and master degrees on Agricultural Economics at Ataturk University in 1984 and 1987 respectively He had his MA of Economics, MS of Agricultural Economics and Ph.D of Agricultural Policy degrees in 1992, 1992 and 1994 respectively He started his academic career, starting as assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Ataturk University in 1994 Since then he held positions of increasing responsibility, moving to associate professor in 1996, full professor in 2003 and department chair in 2006 Yavuz worked as Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Ohio State University in 2001 and 2002 From 2003 to 2005, he served as an official advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in Turkey He has been a member of Bologna Expert Team of Turkey since 2009 Yavuz was also the 2011 recipient of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences International Alumni Award Ali YILDIRIM Dean, College of Education Professor of Science Education Yildirim was graduated from the Department of Chemistry, College of Science at Ataturk University in 1984 He obtained my MS degree from the Department of Chemistry at Atatürk University in 1989 He did his Ph.D in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Bath, United Kingdom, in 1994 He conducted a research project on Cultured Cell Adhesion and Natural Antioxidants Currently his research interest is about Chemistry Education especially with context based learning He has been faculty member in the Department of Chemistry Education in the college of Education at Ataturk University He has been dean of college of education since 2009 Fatih AKÇAY Dean, College of Farmacy Professor of Bio chemistry Akcay was graduated from Marmara Medical School in Istanbul in 1991 He completed his postgraduate training in Medical Biochemsitry in Atatürk University As one of the youngest professors in Turkey, he contributed many scientific work and his over 100 published articles received hundreds of citations making him several times the scientist of the year at Atatürk University Akcay was selected as one of the principal members of the Turkish academy of Sciences in 2012 His interest areas are Medical Biochemistry and Acupuncture He founded the first research center among Turkish universities at Atatürk University in the field of alternative therapies Besides other duties in the university management, he is the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Mehmet TAKKAC Director, School of Foreign Languages Professor of English Teacher Training Takkac was graduated from the College of Education at Ataturk University in 1985 He received his M.A in English Language teaching in 1989 and his PhD in the same field of study in 1994 at the same university He became an associate professor in 2002 and full professor in 2007 He has been academician in the department of English Teaching at Ataturk University since 1986 His field of study is English Language Teaching and British drama He has been director of School of Foreign Languages since 2009 Zekeriya AKTURK Coordinator of Mevlana Program Professor of Family Medicine Akturk was graduated from Marmara Medical School in Istanbul in 1991 After completing his postgraduate training he joined the oneyear distant fellowship program of Virginia Commonwealth University in Academic Development in Family Medicine He moved to Riyadh in 2006 and took part in several projects related with training family physicians He established Department of family medicine and took part in the establishment of the Center of Acupuncture and Complementary Therapies His main interest areas are family medicine, medical education, biostatistics, medical informatics, and Complementary and Alternative Therapies During the US visit his objective is to find
