vision forward, the University is seeking to appoint a Technician to assist in the effective operation of the workshop resources in our Design Studio The Design Studio is a very busy workshop offering specialist student resources for design, including composition software for print and screen, moving image, web design, image manipulation and presentations The Design Studio’s resources for output include professional quality laser-cut, large format inkjet, vinyl and laser print The workshop also provides first line IT Helpdesk support for students The ideal applicant will have proven professional experience in digital design, file preparation, print output, print finishing and laser cutting gained from either a Higher Education or commercial environment The successful applicant will have professional-level practical skills together with expert digital design knowledge to support students to produce high quality results The post holder will demonstrate awareness of University of the Arts Job description Technician: Design Studios Reports to: Workshop Manager: Design Job purpose Assist the Workshop Manager in the effective operation of the Workshop Provide technical support, instruction and learning support for the resources in the workshop Main responsibilities Prepare and deliver inductions to students in all activities relating to the workshop Maintain instructional materials in the appropriate formats to support staff and students as directed by the Workshop Manager Learning support delivery in liaison with the Workshop Manager Effective use of workshop accommodation and resources within the designated areas of responsibility Regular review of stock and requisitioning of materials Support central University needs as identified by the Workshop Manager Maintenance of an inventory of stock and equipment Professional/Technical Functions of post: Resources and Maintenance General ‘housekeeping tasks within the workshop Assist with routine maintenance of equipment to manufacturers’ specifications and repair of equipment Issue of materials and equipment, including sales using automated system where appropriate Transportation and
