DEVELOPING RESEARCH CAPABILITY OF UNIVERSITY LECTURERS: A LESSON FROM HYPER-PROLIFIC RESEARCH TEAMS Thao Phuong Thi Trinh1, Nam Nguyen Danh1, Hiep-Hung Pham2,3, Phuong-Ha Bui4, Trinh Le Thi Tuyet5, Thao Nguyen Phuong6 Thai Nguyen University of Education Phu Xuan University Center for Education Research and Development EdLab Asia Soka University of America Dong Thap University An Giang University, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City E-mail: thaottp@tnue.edu.vn Abstract: The presence of hyper-prolific authors/research groups, or highly productive authors/research groups of academic publications, is an emerging phenomenon in the scholar community These exceptional prolific authors/research groups possess an ability to produce significantly higher volumes of publications compared to their counterparts, approximately one paper per week in a long period of several consecutive years This review first discusses the comprehensive overview of the concept ‘hyper-prolific authors/research groups’ and synthesizes the characteristics or attributes of being highly prolific Additionally, ethical concerns regarding academic integrity, an indispensable facet of this highly prolific productivity matter, are also analyzed Next, some Vietnamese hyper-prolific authors would be also represented and discussed The findings of this review paper would provide implicationsfor research capacity building for university lecturers in Vietnam Keywords: hyper-prolific author, research team, research capability, university lecturer
