Paper M.A 57 Supervisor: Vo Thi Thanh Tam, CHAPTER V: DIFFICULTIES AND SOLUTIONS Difficulties In my opinion, athough I have been taught many translation skills through both theoretical and practical subjects, accurrately translating and analyzing a text is not easy Every language in the world has its own unique expressions In addition, the grammar, vocabulary or terms related to the translation topic also greatly affect the translation To get a smooth, natural translation for readers to understand, translators are required to thoroughly learn as well as have necessary knowledge about the topic they are translating Thus, translating a translation from one language to another is very difficult and requireds a lot of skills Vocabulary is the first and the most important thing to have a perfect translation In English, a word has many meanings, choosing a suitable meaning for a more natural translation requires me to know how to analyse the ideas and the purposes of the paragraph In translating process, I have chosen the wrong meaning of some words, making the meaning of the original sentence become misleading and confusing Besides, there are many dictionaries on the internet that show different meanings of a word and this confuses me a lot It took me a lot of time to refine and come up with the best translation Next, the balance between English grammar and Vietnamese grammar so that readers can easily understand the translation is difficult Finally, I chose the text on the subject of literature, which makes it more difficult to select the meaning as well as to analyze the structure Student:Pham Thi Dieu Linh Code:23203110463 Graduation Paper M.A 58 Supervisor: Vo Thi Thanh Tam, Solutions There are more difficuties in the translating process However, I have my own way to resolve them Firstly, I learn about the work as well as the author’s literature style to better understand his usage of words This is the useful way that you can try to get a perfect translation Secondly, I took notes of difficult grammar and asked my supervisor to re-teach About vocabulary, I looked up dictionaries, visited some websites to sharpen my word choice Next, I also discussed to my friends about my translation limitations and learned from them They help me to recognize my mistakes and give the best translation Fourly, I divided my time for each chapter and forced myself to complete it on time That way, I have time to check and correct my mistakes to produce the best graduation paper possible Lastly, the pressure during graduation paper making makes me feel tired at times, but thanks to my family and my friends by my side, I energertically energized and completed this paper Student:Pham Thi Dieu Linh Code:23203110463 Graduation Paper M.A 59 Supervisor: Vo Thi Thanh Tam, CHAPTER VI: CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS Conclusions During years at school, I have been fully equipped by my lectures to become translator, but after completing this paper, I realize that I still have a lot of mistakes and I have to learn more and more Firstly, to get a perfect translation that readers can easily understand, translators must have a profound knowledge and understanding about the topic they are translating Secondly, the literature subject is a difficult topic so I have to learn very carefully about foreign literature styles Naturalness, depth and softness are essential requirements for a translation of literature work The paper helped me to recognize my major shortcomings I not know a lot of vocabulary and this makes it difficult fỏ me to find the most suitable meaning Besides, I also learned a lot of grammar and special phrases that improved my knowledge I think if I want to become a professional translator, I must continue to strive and never stop learning Due to limited time, the shortcomings in my paper can not be avoided I hope to receive the most sincere, general comments and suggestions Student:Pham Thi Dieu Linh Code:23203110463 Graduation Paper M.A 60 Supervisor: Vo Thi Thanh Tam, Suggestions After four years studying at Duy Tan University as well as after finishing the graduation paper, I would like to offer some suggestions for the university as well as for Faculty of English Firstly, I hope that the university can create more links with business so that students have the opportunity to interact and improve their experiences Secondly, I think the Faculty of English should add fact-finding trip to study program so that students can have direct contact with foreigners, thereby improving their listening and speaking skills Next, to become a translator, students need to hone their writing skills a lot I hope the lecturers can creative and bring new forms of teaching to help students get excited and have the opportunity to improve their writing skills Besides, the analysis of a translation is also very important, not all student can know how to analyze I also hope the lecturers will teach enthusiastically and carefull this skill Finally, nowadays, students tend to be “quiet” They not say anythings they not know because they are afraid to be laugh, lectures should create a comfortable learning environment for students, limit negative reactions when receiving question from them Student:Pham Thi Dieu Linh Code:23203110463 Graduation Paper M.A 61 Supervisor: Vo Thi Thanh
