agricultural land, and local people's lives The Tien River valley of Sadec town has been eroded very seriously and this has affected the life, social, and economy of the locality The application of remote sensing in monitoring shoreline change is necessary to monitor and predict the change in the future The purpose of this thesis is to use remote sensing technology to analyze and assess riverbank change quickly and efficiently Landsat images from 1976 to 2009 in the studied area are collected The improved formula (B3+ B4)/ B1 for Landsat MSS and (B5+B4) / B2 for Landsat TM and ETM+ are used to extract shoreline from images by means of band ratio GIS tool is used to overlay extracted shoreline from multi-temporal satellite images In additions, the change rates of the riverbank
