5.14.16. On the walls around closet, safety handrail must be installed. Details of handrail must comply with stipulation in clause 5.12 of this guidance . Dimensions for installing handrail are as follows: - Around the closet horizontal handrail must be installed. Horizontal handrail on the lateral wall face is not less than 1,000mm long and at 300mm from the hind wall face. Height for installation : 900mm. Horizontal handrail on the hind wall face is not less than 600mm long, height for installation being 900mm. - The first vertical handrail is arranged at 300mm from the fore rim of closet, at 250mm from the axial line of closet. The second vertical handrail is arranged at 450mm from the axial line of closet on the side of the wall farther from closet. Vertical handrail is installed at a height of 850mm ÷1,300mm from the floor surface. It is also possible to arrange vertical handrail from the floor surface to the ceiling, see fig 53. Note: As for toilet rooms with length from 1,400mm to 1,500mm and width of 900mm, it is not necessary to install vertical handrail, if the horizontal handrail is inclined by an angle from 30 0 to 45 0 , with a length of 700mm. Fig 54: Dimensions for installing suspended urinal 5.14.17.Where in toilet area, there is urinal, it is necessary to arrange handrail for PWD. Dimensions for installing handrail are shown in fig 54. Height for installing bidets or urinals fixed on wall should not be more than 400mm from floor surface. 5.14.18.Regarding residence with need for installing bathroom, the clearance space dimensions are as follows: a) Bathroom with mobile shower: dimensions not less than 1,200mm x 1,800mm (see fig 55) Fig 55: Toilet room without bathtub b) Bath room with shower and wash basin : Dimensions not less than 1,500mm x 1,500mm (see fig 56) Fig 56: Toilet room with bath tub c) Bath room with bathtub: dimensions not less than 2,300mm x 2,150mm (see fig 57) Fig 57: Bathroom with shower and without chair 5.14.19. Bath room arranged for ensuring accessibility and use by PWD must be located at convenient entry/exit way. In the bath room area, it must be enough surface for wheelchair turning. To separate bathing area of PWD from other sections, it is advised to use drawn curtain or mobile partition wall. In bathroom, it should be installed safe, solid handrails (see fig 58). 5.14.20 Regarding bathroom with shower and chair, the handrails are fastened on three sides of wall. Interval between handrail and the adjoining wall must not exceed 150mm. Positions for assembling handrails are shown in fig 58. Note: 1) When arranging chair in bath room with shower, the handrail at the side wall face must not be longer than the chair and not be installed behind the chair. 2) Handrail and the wall face or adjoining part with handrail, should not be present sharp, pointed details. 3) Handrail should not rotate in related connections and must be made from materials for withstanding a force of 110 Kg.m/s 2 Fig 58: Dimensions of bath room without bathtub, with chair Fig 59: Dimensions for installing toilet room with bathtub and with fixed chair 5.14.21. In bath room with bathtub, it is necessary to install handrails for ensuring accessibility and use by PWD. Dimensions for installing are regulated as follows: a) Bathtub with fixed chair: handrails are installed on wall along the tub. The upper handrail is fastened at 900mm from the floor surface. The lower handrail it at 250mm from the upper rim of bathtub. These handrails keep an interval not more than 350mm from the wall surface at the head side, and not more than 350mm from the wall surface at the feet side. Another 600mm long handrail is arranged on the wall surface at the feet side of bathtub (see fig 61) b) Bathtub without fixed chair: handrails are fastened on wall as regulated in a). In bathroom it is necessary to arrange seat for PWD. L- shaped and rectangular chairs are fastened or assembled in fixed or non fixed blocks. In bathroom with shower, chairs are assembled under the form of folding chairs fixed on the wall. Regarding bathroom with tub, chairs are arranged at the head side of the bathtub or on the surface of tub. Chairs must be safely fastened, unslippery in the process of using. The face of chair is 400mm ÷ 450mmfrom the floor surface. 5.14.23. When installing rectangular chair, the hind rim of chair is not over 65mm from adjoining wall face. Regarding bath room with movable shower , the lateral rims of chair are not less than 40mm from adjoining wall face. Width of chair face in from 350mmm to 400mm (see fig. 63) Fig 63: Dimensions for installing rectangular chair 5.14.24. When installing L- shaped chair, the hind rim of chair is not over 65mm from adjoining wall face. Width of chair face is 350mm ÷400mm. The hind rim at the corner of L letter is distant from the adjoining wall face by an interval not exceeding 40mm. The end of L letter is distant from floor surface by 550mm ÷580mm (see fig 64). 5.14.25. In bath room, it is necessary to arrange movable shower 1500mm long, and set of hot/cool water mixing. Faucet and control devices must ensure the use by PWD. Control devices are installed above handrails but not be distant by over 1,200mm from floor surface, and distant by 350mm from central line of the chair. Dimensions for installing wash basin, looking glass are shown in fig 65. 5.14.26. Regarding independent / detached houses or condominiums, it is necessary to install sensitive sound and visual detectors. Height for installation of devices being not less than 1,000mm and not exceeding 1,200mm. This system of devices is arranged in house interior, its buttons or switches should be installed outside the main entrance/exit ways. 5.14.27. In residence, there must be smoke warning devices at specified place. The (electric) current line shall be prolonged to a spot in the residence, contiguous with smoke warning device of all the residence area. All equipment announcing through display screen information of smoke warning in residence area shall be activated under the smoke warning device - All equipment announcing through display screen information of five- alarm in residence area shall be activated under the fire alarm device. In facilities ensuring the use by PWD, it is necessary to focus the attention of users on assistance means for PWD.
