Topic Objective To provide an overview of the module topics and objectives. Lead-in In this module, you will learn how to install and configure SharePointPortal Server. This installation module is based on the group collaboration model discussed in Module 1, “Introduction to SharePointPortal Server,” in Course 2095A, Implementing SharePointPortalServer 2001. The group collaboration model is based a single server with fewer than 800 users. 2 Module2:InstallingandConfiguringSharePointPortalServer Deploying SharePointPortalServer Hardware and Software Requirements Requirements of the Client Components SharePointPortalServer Coexistence SharePointPortalServer Language Support The SharePointPortalServer Setup Process InstallingSharePointPortalServer Components Installed by SharePointPortalServerServer Setup Using the New Workspace Wizard *****************************I LLEGAL FOR N ON -T RAINER U SE ***************************** You should plan three installation issues before you deploy Microsoft SharePointPortalServer 2001: Ensure that the computers on which you are deploying SharePointPortalServer meet minimum hardware and software requirements. Ensure that the computers on which you are deploying the client components of SharePointPortalServer meet minimum hardware and software requirements. Consider the manner in which SharePointPortalServer coexists with software applications, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Standard Edition, and the Microsoft Search Service (MSSearch). The size of your organization determines how much administrative support is required to deploy and support SharePointPortal Server. For example, if your organization is small and you are using SharePointPortalServer mainly for document management in a collaborative workgroup scenario, you can deploy SharePointPortalServer with minimal administrative support in two stages.
