It provides a cost-effective means of delivering a DS1 to the subscriber by eliminating the require- ment for an external “smart jack”. Single-Position Wall Mount Enclosure Specifications The HDSL two-position type 400 remote enclo- sure can be mounted on the wall in a closet or cabinet in applications where two DS1s will be required. As demand for T1-based services grow, utilizing the two-position enclosure for the first DS1 will save turn-up time, cost and need for all external "smart jack," as incremental services are ordered. Two type 400 HDSL remote modules mount side-by-side, making the unit ideal for integrating HDSL into digital loop carrier or PCS equipment enclosures. Two-Position Rack Mount Enclosure Eight-Position Wall Mount Enclosure At remote complexes where in- creased density is required, an eight- position unit is available which can either be mounted onto a wall or within a rack. In high growth centers where the demand for additional DS1s will increase, this system provides the greatest flexibil- ity. A central site can terminate up to eight type 400 HDSL transmis- sion signals providing a cost- effective, easily managed system. The HDSL remote unit is contained within the lid of a standard SIECOR ® network interface device. Therefore, along with providing two traditional POTS lines, the unit can incrementally deliver a DS1 signal. An upgrade kit is available to transform existing network interface devices into a DS1 subscriber delivery platform. The HDSL remote module is built into the enclosure with system performance information available through LEDs and at test access points. This solution is ideal for upgrading small offices or home offices requiring increased bandwidth or the delivery of DS1 services to PCS sites where building access is not available.
