UNIT 11: WHAT TIME IS IT? LESSON (1-3)

A AIMS

- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to ask and answer about daily routine - Develop Ss speaking skill

* Language focus:

- Sentence Patterns: - What time you….? - I …….at ……

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks

C PROCEDURE

I WARM - UP

Watching a video about daily activities Retell names of daily activities II NEW LESSON

1 Look, listen and repeat

- Ask pupils the names of the characters and where they are: Linda and Tom

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books

- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles - Repeat the step a few times

- Some Ss role play and the others comment - Ask Ss to role play

- Ask Ss to role play before the class

- Explain the meaning of the language practised - What time you get up?

+ Six o’clock 2 Point and say

- Ask Sts to look at the pictures given

- Play CD for sts listen and repeat all the actions given

- Read the words and have pupils read in chorus, individuals - Explain the pattern:

- What time you …….? I …… at ……

- Ask pupils about what they get information to say

- Tell them that they are going to ask and act out friends in pictures to answer what time they daily routines

- Call on all pairs to perform the task at the front of the class The rest of the class observe and give respond

3 Let’s talk:

- Ask them to read the questions given: What time is it?

What time you … ?

- Model Let sts distinguish the different between two questions - Ask pupils to answer the questions

- Have pupils talk about themselves about the time and the time they daily activities

Ex: Yesterday, I was at school I had English, Maths and Vietnamese.

- Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary

- Call on some sts to perform the task at the front of the class The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible

I WARM-UP

1 Listen and draw the time:

- Have pupils look at the pictures a, b, c, d, e on page of the Student Book - Get sts the information about activities in pictures

- Let them guess the time for each activity - Give feedback

- Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and draw the time on the clocks they hear to the pictures

- Check their guess Compare the answer with the partner - Play the recording again pupils check their answers - T gives the answer:

- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text Answer: 7.30 7.30 3 8.15 8.00 9.00 2 Draw the time:

- Have pupils look at the clocks and the questions given below - Ask pupils to say aloud the activity in each picture

- Get sts about the order of the ex

- Have pupils to daw the time that they those daily routines and then write the answer for the questions

- Call on pupils write on the board and other pupils write in their notebooks in individuals

- Have pupils trade their answers in pairs for correction - Have pupils comment the answer on the board

- Give feedback

UNIT 11: WHAT TIME IS IT? LESSON (1 – 3)

A AIMS

- Ss will be able to master how to pronoun the sound /u/ with /oo/; practice the sound in words and sentences

- Ss will be able to chant together

- Develop Ss listening, speaking and chanting skills * Language focus:

- Vocabulary: revision B TEACHING AIDS

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

C PROCEDURE

I WARM-UP

Answer the questions: (Play the game: Pass the ball) - What time you get up?

- What time you go to bed? II NEW LESSON

1 Listen and repeat

- Have pupils look at the poster with the content of part (sts’ book – Page 10) - Tell them they are going to learn how to pronoun the sound /oo/ with different words

- Produce the sound /oo/ in cook, book, noon and school a few times Ask pupils to say what they think about when they hear the sound

- Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation

- Give the notes how to pronoun /oo/

- Have stst prasctice saying the sound and words 2 Listen and tick Then write and say aloud

- Have pupils look and read the uncompleted sentences given.

- Tell the pupils that they are going to listen the sentences and write the words they hear into blanks

- Play the recording twice pupils for listen and write - Compare the answers with the partner

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers T gives the answer:

Answer: 1- book 2- noon – cook 4- school

- Have pupils practice reading the completed sentences

- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text 3 Let’s chant: What time you go to school?

- Put the piece of paper with the chant from Page 10 written on it on the board - Tell pupils that they are going to chant

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen as they read Clap the syllables

- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat each line of the chant and clap the syllables

- Call on some pupils to perform the chant at the front of the class The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible

- Tell pupils that they are going to read the passage about Phong’s daily routines to get the information

- T reads – sts repeat

- Pupils read the passage individually

- Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary

- Ask sts get information from the passage to complete the sentences given - Sts the task in groups of

- Get sts’ answer - Give feedback
