Listen & Language focus (1)

I. Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to

- improve their listening skill through gap-filling exercises

- know how to use present tense with future meaning to talk about their schedules, timetables II. Language contents:

1. Vocabulary:

unite, shout of loud, hold hand, make a stand, gathering, support, rest home, culture, cultural 2. Grammar and structure:

 Present with future meaning III. Techniques:

Matching, Survey, Questions & Answers, Substitution, Group work, Pair work IV. Teaching aids:

Pictures, laptop, projector, speaker, extra boards V. Teaching procedures:

ACTIVITIES CONTENT

(3 minutes)

To get students’ attention, to remind students of the previous lesson ,and to make the environment of learning English.

- Play the video clip “ Can you help me? – Sure, I can”

- First, have Ss listen to the song, after that tell them to sing it with the speechless music part

- Have Ss fill in the table with suitable sentences (matching) - Make necessary corrections and

give marks

(15 minutes) *Prelistening:

(Group work) (3 minutes)

To teach some vocabulary so that Ss can listen to the task easily.

- Explain some difficult words (using pictures; explanations;

translation to illustrate) - Have Ss repeat the new words

after the teacher (choral and individuals)

- Checking Ss’ comprehension of the vocabulary (Matching) - Ask Ss to look at Margarette’s

song on page 56 and predict the missing words

- Divide the song into small parts, each group one part, have them compare answers with other groups

*While-listening:

(Group work) (10 minutes)

 To improve Ss’ listening skills and keep the class actively involved in listening

- Play the whole song one time, then play one by one sentence of the song

- Have groups listen, take notes

Fill in the table with suitable sentences: Asking for favors Responding to favors Can/Could you help

New words:

Filling the missing words:

To introduce “Present tense with future meaning”.

- Give some examples that use Simple present with future meaning and some pictures to illustrate for them

- Show when we can use this structure

Give some new words to help Ss the task easily

- Present new words (using pictures, examples)

- Have Ss repeat the new words after the teacher (choral and individuals)

- Checking Ss’ comprehension of the vocabulary (Matching)

3 LANGUAGE FOCUS (1)

Let Ss ask and answer questions in the textbook page 60 (using substitution)

- Give Ss examples for the exercise

- Have Ss work in pairs, ask and answer questions

- Ask some pairs to go to the board and practice questions and answer

- Give feedback

(Group work) ( minutes)

 Ask Ss to take a paper/small board and fill out a survey

- Ask them to answer the questions:

+ When you you homework tomorrow?

+ Where you homework tomorrow?

+ What time you start and finish doing homework tomorrow?

- Ask some representatives of some groups tell about their future plan

- Give feedback

>>>> We can use simple present time for scheduled future events (timetables, schedules of movies, programs, bus, train, planes…).

*New words:
