Period 69 – Unit 9: Cities of the world

Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED - “WHAT NICE PHOTOS!” I OBJECTIVES

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

+ Use the lexical items related to the topic “Cities of the World” + Know some famous cities and landmarks and use the vocabulary and structures to describe them

Language focus:

+ Vocabularies: The words related to the topic of the lesson “CITIES OF THE WORLD”

+ Structures: The Present Perfect Tense

2 Anticipated problems:

- Ss may get mistakes when they exercises

- Ss might be get stuck with some new words while reading the dialogue and therefore be unable to find answers to detailed questions

- Ss might not understand teacher’s instructions

- Technology (computer/ projector) won’t be working

3 Attitude: Ss are excited about the lesson and take part in activities heartily

4 Living skills: Pairs work, group work, problem solving

- T introduces about herself and asks some questions:

+ How are you?

+ What’s the weather like today?

- T shows some pictures of famous cities in the world in the screen

- T says: Before going to the lesson today, I want to show you some pictures These pictures are famous cities of the world Who can tell me the name of the cities?

- T says: After seeing these photos and answering my questions, can you guess the topic of the lesson today?

- T writes title of unit on the board

* Listen and read:

- T plays the recording for the first time - T asks: Is there any new words?

- T teachs new words

* Vocabulary:

- T asks Ss to practise reading new words

- T shows the picture on screen and asks Ss to look at the picture

-T asks: What are the name of continent? You can answer in Vietnamese.

- T asks: Would you like to play a game?The game called “Who is fastest?”

- T divides class into groups, requires them to disscus together to Task in minutes After that, representative member of each group will go to the board and write down the answers Which group finishes fastest will be the winner and receive a small gift
