name – Stopped recording Logfile path and name – Started script – – Stopped script – – Each notification is timestamped U-26 Chapter RouteDiary Each notification is also tagged with a square which is colored according to the nature of the notification: green for “Normal”, orange for “Warning”, and red for “Error” 3.2.4 Inspecting Test Routes in the Map View Whenever RouteDiary is connected to TEMS Investigation, route positions are plotted in the Microsoft Bing map view if GPS data is available Pinpointed positions from indoor testing are likewise plotted, provided that the floor plan used is georeferenced (that is, accompanied by a TAB file) The map view has the following functions: • Drag the map to pan it • Use the slider on the left, or the mouse scroll wheel, to zoom the map in and out • Double-click to zoom in by a factor of Click this button to switch the connection to the Bing map contents on and off Any plotted route positions remain in the map pane even if the Bing contents are toggled off Click this button to recenter the map around the routes driven Specifically, the map is zoomed to fit the smallest lat/long bounding box encompassing all routes, and centered around that bounding box 3.2.5 Entering Notes In the Note pane, you can type free-text comments This feature is helpful in order to note down general circumstances surrounding your tests, or any occurrences out of the ordinary that may affect them Each comment is timestamped and thus explicitly associated with the concurrent activities executed in TEMS Investigation • Click the Commit button to add a comment to the Notes list on the left Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + Enter • Click the Clear button to blank the Note pane 3.2.6 Attaching Files In the Attachments pane (bottom right), you can pick arbitrary files to store in the library along with its other contents For example, you might want to take NT15-49889 ver 1.0 U-27 Utilities a photo of a traffic jam or other event that held you up during the drive test, or of roadworks that forced you to take a different route from the one planned • Click the left-arrow button, then click the Add button • Select the file you want to attach The attached files appear as paper sheet icons below the Add button You can also attach files by drag and drop into the Attachments pane • To remove all attachments, click the Clear button 3.3 Generating Reports in RouteDiary RouteDiary can generate reports in HTML format summarizing the contents of the currently open library and the testing it covers To be able to create a report, RouteDiary must be disconnected from TEMS Investigation If it is currently connected, click the Disconnect button at the top of the window 3.3.1 Setting Up the Report Generation • Click the Report button If RouteDiary is connected to TEMS Investigation, you will be prompted to disconnect This pane then slides down: • Under Additional files, you can point to a folder containing further TEMS Investigation logfiles (*.trp) that you want to include in the report These will then be taken into account in precisely the same way as the logfiles already covered by the library • Output path: Select where to store the report • Additional notes: Here you can add notes over and above those recorded in the library • When done with the setup, click the Generate report button U-28 Chapter RouteDiary 3.3.2 Report Contents The library name is used as report title 3.3.2.1 General Section The report is headed by a general section with the following contents: • Text entered under Additional notes • Library start and stop times for the segment selected when loading the library • Number of logfiles covered by report Logfiles in the library and additional logfiles are counted separately • Map with drive test routes plotted • Total service summary success rate: Number of successfully completed activities and total number of activities broken down by logfile, device, and activity type See the example below • Notes and notifications Notes are tagged with a white square, while notifications keep the color indicating their severity as explained in section 3.2.3 3.3.2.2 Logfile-specific Sections Below the general part, a section on each logfile follows, providing this information: • Logfile name • Probe: TEMS Investigation version used to record the logfile • Tags: Tags defined in the logfile at recording time • Duration: Length of logfile NT15-49889 ver 1.0 U-29 Utilities • Start Time, Stop Time • Status: – Normal: The logfile was recorded normally – Recovered: A failure occurred during recording of this logfile, and an attempt was made to recover the file Please note that the file may be corrupt • Map showing the route driven in the logfile The starting point is marked by a green square, and the endpoint by a red square • Summary of activities and their outcome This is the subset contributed by this logfile to the overall service summary given in the general part (see section 3.3.2.1), broken down by device and with an additional distinction between failed and aborted activities An example is provided below U-30 Chapter RouteDiary • Notes entered and notifications received during recording of this logfile 3.4 More About Libraries You can work with multiple libraries in RouteDiary However, only one library at a time can be loaded in the application Before you can switch libraries, you must disconnect from TEMS Investigation If you click the Library button while connected, you will be prompted to disconnect 3.4.1 • Creating a New Library To create a new library, distinct from the one you are currently working in, simply use the Create Library function just as in section 3.2.2 3.4.2 Loading an Existing Library You can also load an existing library, either to continue working in it and add to its contents, or to generate a report on it This is done by means of the Select Library function • Select the desired library, then click the Select button You are then invited to specify whether or not to load the existing contents of the library into RouteDiary: NT15-49889 ver 1.0 U-31 Utilities • If you leave the Load History option unchecked, none of the library contents will be loaded, only the library as such • If you want to load existing library data, check the Load History box – • You can optionally load only a part of the library The bar with sliders represents the time period covered by the library, and its endpoints are given as Start Time and Stop Time Drag the sliders to mark the segment that you want to load The endpoints of that segment are indicated as Selected StartTime and Selected StopTime When you mouse over the selected segment, it is colored green; you can then reposition it by dragging it along the bar The duration of the segment is kept constant in the process.1 After setting up the loading as desired, you have two options: – Click Connect to load the library and connect to TEMS Investigation Do this if you want to continue working in this library – Click Edit/Report to load the library but without connecting to TEMS Investigation Do this if you want to generate a report on the library, or simply inspect and/or edit it (adding further notes and/or attachments) 3.4.3 Renaming or Deleting a Library In the Select Library dialog, you can also: • rename a library by selecting it and clicking the Rename button • delete a library by selecting it and clicking the Delete button If the library has been open during several disjoint periods of time, so that there are gaps in the timeline, Start Time and Stop Time will mark the “global” endpoints of the library, i.e when it was first opened and last closed U-32 Chapter ImagePositioning ImagePositioning 4.1 Introduction The ImagePositioning utility is used to georeference unpositioned images by projecting the image onto a zoomable world map To match the image to the map, you zoom in on the relevant area, then proceed to adjust the shape and orientation of the image until it is congruent with the underlying map Finally you generate a MapInfo TAB file, assigning lat/long coordinates to the image according to its current placement on the map 4.2 Supported File Formats An unpositioned image can be in BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, or TIF format You can also load an image that already has an associated TAB file by opening the TAB file When you reposition the image using the ImagePositioning utility, the existing TAB file will be overwritten 4.3 Starting ImagePositioning • From the Start menu, select All Programs Ascom TEMS Products TEMS Investigation 17 ImagePositioning • Click the pane labeled Image Positioning Mode 4.4 Positioning Images 4.4.1 Loading an Image To load an image into the tool, one of the following: • Drag and drop the image or TAB file into the tool window, or: Click the Menu button and select Open NT15-49889 ver 1.0 U-33 Utilities • Select the desired file type and browse for the file The image is displayed in a translucent manner against the background of a world map Regardless of the true dimensions of the image, it is initially fit into a square 4.4.2 • • Matching the Image to the Background Map First, on the map, go to the area covered by the image – One way is to zoom and pan the map manually to home in on the right spot Use the slider on the left (or the mouse scroll wheel) for zooming; drag the map to pan it – Alternatively, in the field immediately beneath the title bar, you can type the name of a location (city, street, etc.) or a pair of lat/long coordinates (for example, “N53.68 W6.47”), then click the Go To button The map then re-centers around the chosen spot and is zoomed in so that the scale bar at the bottom corresponds to 500 feet Keep navigating and zooming until the image and its counterpart on the map are roughly equal in scale U-34 Chapter ImagePositioning • Now fit the image onto the map by dragging the three corners tagged with colored squares, adjusting the image size, shape, and orientation (See section 4.5.4 for an alternative method.) Pan the map as needed When you have achieved an approximate match between image and map as in the screenshot above, click the Zoom to image extents button to ease the final adjustments • Continue adjusting the image until it superimposes perfectly on the map NT15-49889 ver 1.0 U-35 Utilities Click the Export tab file button A TAB file is now created in a location of your choice, assigning lat/long coordinates to the image as specified by its current orientation in the tool window By default the TAB file is written to the folder where the image resides, overwriting the old TAB file if one exists 4.5 Other Functions in ImagePositioning 4.5.1 Locking the Image Position Clicking the Lock image position button locks the image relative to the map, so that you can pan the map while preserving the current image alignment This is useful for example if you need to pan the map to bring the last part of the image target into view U-36 Chapter ImagePositioning 4.5.2 Resetting the Image Position When you click the Reset image position button, the image shape reverts to a square whose size is proportional to the dimensions of the tool window The background map is not affected 4.5.3 Toggling the Map Display Mode Click the Toggle map mode button to toggle the map imagery The available modes are: • Roadmap • Hybrid (satellite image with roadmap overlay) 4.5.4 Further Menu Items The menu in the top right corner has the following further choices: • Image Opacity: Determines the degree of translucence of the image 1.00 = maximum opacity (map does not shine through at all); 0.50 = default; 0.00 = minimum opacity (image is invisible) • Show Positions: If you select this, a panel appears above the map window showing the pixel and lat/long coordinates of the green, blue, and purple corners of the image The pixel fields are editable, so you can alternatively move the corners of the image by entering new coordinates for them here NT15-49889 ver 1.0 U-37 www.ascom.com/tems The TEMS™ Portfolio offers a complete set of trusted solutions for drive testing, benchmarking, monitoring, and analyzing network performance These state-of-the-art offerings facilitate the deployment, optimization, and maintenance of mobile networks We are the industry leader, and our products are supplied to the world’s top mobile operators, equipment vendors, and professional service providers Ascom reserves the right to change specifications without notice Ascom acknowledges all registered trademarks appearing herein Ascom Network Testing Inc 1943 Isaac Newton Square Reston, Virginia 20190 | USA www.ascom.com/tems © Ascom 2016 All rights reserved TEMS is a trademark of Ascom All other trademarks are the property of their respective holders Ascom Network Testing leads the world in providing best-in-class solutions to measure, analyze, and optimize mobile networks ...
