UNIT 9: THE FIRST AID COURSE. Lesson 1: - Getting started (P.80) - Listen and read (P.80- 81) A Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1 Knowledge:understand the topic of this lesson, know some first-aids in some injured situations, listen and understand the dialogue and talk about an emergency

2 Skills: develop communicative skills.

3 Attitude: be more carefull in some injured cases, show their positive attitude in learning English

I Getting Started:

a A girl has a burn on her arm

- I’ll use cold water to ease the pain and then take her to the nearest hospital. b A boy has a bad cut on his leg

- T: ask Ss to work in group of 4, discuss how to solve these situation

- Ss: work in groups

- T: control and give feedback (encorage Ss to find out as many ways as possible, especially the local traditional first-aids)

Activity 1: Presentation (eliciting, observing, practicing)

- T: introduce the situation of the dialogue Then have ss listen to the dialogue, elicit some new words through explanation, translation

- Ss: listen

- T: have ss practice pronunciation - Ss: read in chorus then read individually, finally copy down in their notebook

Checking vocabulary: “Rub out and remember”

- T: give some questions, ask Ss to listen and answer

- T: play the tap again then ask Ss to practice the dialogue between a nurse and Lan in pairs

- I’ll leave her lying flat and stuff her nose with cotton wool to stop the bleeding.
