The Psychology of Parenting flash Card By Coach Weng imcoachweng imcoach_weng Socialisation : way of human to express the power of language that we have Internalisation : the experience of society which we get during socialisation, are used and become part of the individual’s practices Intentional socialisation : happens when parents or other adults consciously educate certain beliefs, principles or ideals to the child Unintentional socialisation: the outcome of watching others establish connections Bronfenbrenner’s bio-ecological theory : suggested four stages, which are the microsystem, the mesosystem, the exosystem and the macrosystem In each of these stages, connections and interrelations occur to produce configurations that influence the development of a child Microsystems: the most fundamental stage that we are exposed to Mesosystems : the association or relationship between two microsystems or maybe more Exosystem : the environment in which the child is not directly involved , but is affecting a child's development Macrosystem: This stage represents the “society” or the smaller culture or population the child lives in Timeout : the child who committed an offence will be isolated for a while in another place to make the child think about their mistakes and deal with their emotions Punishment : can either be incentives that can cause physical or psychological pain or briefly removing a pleasurable incentive when the child commits an unacceptable and inappropriate action Feedback : the knowledge obtained through the assessment of actions, regardles good or bad Learning by doing : children can be better educated through handson learning whereby they experience learning using their own two hands and parts of their body and are able to interact closely with the subject matter Instruction: commonly used to socialise children by providing them with knowledge and data Setting standards: When we set standards for a particular task, we expect those fulfilling the task to achieve a certain level or goal that is considered adequate for the task Reasoning: defined as justification or rationalisation for an action Altruism : defined as the selfless deed of assisting others without expecting anything in return, although some sacrifices must be made by the doer Transductive reasoning: relates one specific concept to another based on what it looks on the exterior instead of using logical thought Inductive reasoning : links a specific concept to a broader (general) concept according to how similar it looks Deductive reasoning: in which the child links a broader (general) concept to a specific concept according to how similar (or different) it looks Authoritative parents: More democratic and provide reasons for whatever rules and regulations they enforce Permissive parents: Lack enforcement of rules and regulations and usually use influence to make children comply with their wishes Authoritarian parents: Strict in enforcement of rules and regulations and children are expected to obey what they say without the opportunity to reason Lets get connected imcoachweng imcoach_weng
