LTE Technology Page of Home > Project Properties > Calculations > LTE Technology SET LTE TECHNOLOGY PROPERTIES With the LTE technology, several power downlink settings need to be defined for the corresponding LTE signals These signals are: Reference Signal (RS): This signal is similar to pilot signal in CDMA technology It is always transmitted by LTE eNodeB, and is used by mobile to rank different LTE sectors according to signal strength Physical Broadcast Channel (PBCH): This signal transmits a limited number of the most frequently transmitted parameters essential for initial access to the cell Synchronization Signal (SS): Primary (P-SS) and Secondary (S-SS) synchronization signals enable time and frequency synchronization between eNodeB and UE Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH): This signal carries information about UE resource assignment and other control information Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH): This signal is the main data bearing downlink channel in LTE It is shared among all users, but it also carries paging messages as well as some broadcast system information not carried on PBCH signal In the Project Properties, click Calculations > LTE technology Set the values for LTE transmit powersettings Tx_RE_dlrs: Transmit power per resource element for downlink reference signal (RS) given in dBm (Default is dBm.) Tx_RE_Offset_pbch: Transmit power offset for physical broadcast channel (PBCH) relative to TX_RE_dlrs given in dB (Default is dB.) Tx_RE_Offset_ss: Transmit power offset for primary synchronization channel (P-SCH) and secondary synchronization channel (S-SCH) relative to Tx_RE_dlrs given in dB (Default is dB.) Tx_RE_Offset_pdcch: Transmit power offset for Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) relative to Tx_RE_dlrs (Default is dB.) Tx_RE_Offset_pdsch: Transmit power offset for Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) relative to Tx_RE_dlrs (Default is dB.) The above powersettings are not independent of each other The following sets of power checks must be satisfied otherwise a warning message is displayed, and transmit power levels will need to be re-entered Click here for suggested power level values Num OFDM for PDCCH: Number (1, 2, 3) of OFDM symbols reserved for PDCCH in the first slot of the subframe In the above example, Num OFDM for PDCCH is set to NOTE These settings can be redefined when you add a system using LTE technology When the Apply these default values to all sources of all systems check mark is selected, all the power values in the existing systems are replaced with these values, and these values also become default values for future systems When this check mark is cleared, these values become default values for future systems only; the existing file://C:\Program Files\iBwave\iBwave Design\Documentation\WebHelp\project_properties 6/1/2011 LTE Technology Page of systems keep their values Click OK to save and close the Project Properties SUGGESTED POWER LEVEL VALUES The following table lists suggested power level values under the assumption that all offsets are set to 0, and the N_odfm_pdcch is set to From these examples, it is possible to compute Power per RE (Tx_RE_dlrs) levels for other maximum system power levels System (RF source) power maximum power set at 24 dBm CHANNEL BANDWIDTH NUMBER OF SUBCARRIERS PER RESOURCE BLOCK TOTAL NUMBER OF SUBCARRIERS TOTAL POWER TOTAL POWER [MHz] NUMBER OF RESOURCE BLOCKS POWER PER RE (Tx_RE_dlrs) [mW] [dBm] 25 12 300 250 24.0 -0.8 10 50 12 600 250 24.0 -3.8 15 75 12 900 250 24.0 -5.6 20 100 12 1200 250 24.0 -6.8 TOTAL NUMBER OF SUBCARRIERS TOTAL POWER TOTAL POWERPOWER PER RE (Tx_RE_dlrs) [W] [dBm] System (RF source) power maximum power set at 43 dBm CHANNEL BANDWIDTH NUMBER OF SUBCARRIERS/ [MHz] NUMBER OF RESOURCE BLOCKS 25 12 300 20 43.0 18.2 10 50 12 600 20 43.0 15.2 15 75 12 900 20 43.0 13.5 20 100 12 1200 20 43.0 12.2 TOTAL NUMBER OF SUBCARRIERS TOTAL POWER TOTAL POWERPOWER PER RE (Tx_RE_dlrs) [W] [dBm] RESOURCE BLOCK System (RF source) power maximum power set at 46 dBm CHANNEL BANDWIDTH NUMBER OF SUBCARRIERS/ [MHz] NUMBER OF RESOURCE BLOCKS 25 12 300 40 46.0 21.2 10 50 12 600 40 46.0 18.2 RESOURCE BLOCK file://C:\Program Files\iBwave\iBwave Design\Documentation\WebHelp\project_properties 6/1/2011 LTE Technology Page of 15 75 12 900 40 46.0 16.5 20 100 12 1200 40 46.0 15.2 WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?
