applying the assessments, gather the following items: ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ a a a a copy of the assessment for each child box of crayons in a variety of colors pencil, an eraser, and a pen list of the children to be assessed While completing the assessments, follow these steps: • • • • • • Separate the children into small groups Provide the children with safe activities, such as playing with playdough or plastic blocks Play the instrumental version of the Bebop Storysong from the unit you are assessing Sit at a table or desk with an extra chair for the child that is being assessed Invite the first sticker on the copy of the assessment to encourage the child’s progress Add suggestions for practicing or developing a skill in the “Next steps” column Keep the assessment in a portfolio as evidence
