Course Times 0900 ‐ 1700 each day May vary on individual timetables Content • • • • • • Characteristics of cargoes Toxicity Hazards Hazards control Safety equipment and protection of personnel Pollution prevention Course Approval This course complies with the requirements of Section A‐V/1, Para 2‐7, STCW78 as amended and is approved by AMSA. Certificate Course Duration 1 day NOTE: Reduced duration only applies if undertaken in conjunction with a Tanker Safety course. AMSA approved 2 day Tanker Familiarisation courses can be arranged on demand. Venue This course can be conducted at AMC, interstate and internationally An AMSA approved “Tanker Familiarisation” Certificate will be issued by AMC to participants who satisfactorily complete the course and provide documentary evidence to satisfy the course pre‐requisite. AMC Search markets and administers short courses on behalf of AMC which retains academic control of all courses. AMC’s mandatory short courses meet the requirements of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and comply with the International Maritime Organisation’s STCW78 Code as amended. AMC Search short courses do not qualify participants for the issue of Units of Competency under the Maritime Training Package. Should further training be undertaken within the Maritime Training Package, the AMSA approved short course Certificate may not be accepted for the purpose of Recognition of Prior Learning. Safety Information Course participants are requested to note the following safety information: Enclosed footwear must be worn at all times. The AMC Occupational Health & Safety requirements will be adhered to throughout the course. Government regulations prohibit smoking in classrooms or within 10 metres of buildings.
