There are two different views of the passage of time in “A Rose for Emily” The first is “timewith its mathematical progression” and the second is “all the past is a diminishing road but,instead, a huge meadow which no winter ever quite touches, divided from them now by thenarrow bottleneck of the most recent decade of years.”

In the story, who holds the first view of time and who holds the second? How do the differentconcepts of time cause Emily’s tragedy?
