LESSON PLAN Unit 11: SOURSES OF ENERGY Period: Listening Time allotted: 45 minutes Class: 11B1 Date: 15/02/2011 Teacher in charge: Tong Nu Kieu Thu Trainee teacher: Hoang Thi Hoai Giang I. Aims: to help ss to practice listening skills: listening for generals and specific information. II. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - listen for general ideas about types of energy. - listen to specific information about how important sources of energy are. - express their ideas about how they can protect their living place from pollution. - know how to work in pairs or in groups III. Teaching Aids and Materials: textbook, posters, handouts, cassette tapes. IV. Anticipated problems: - Some students may not know how to pronounce some words in TAM SAO THAT BAN game. - Some students may not know what coal, oil, fossil fuels are. - Some students may find it difficult to listen and finish the tasks. V. Methods: Whole class, individual work, pair work, group work. VI. Procedure: Stages/ Times Activities Work arrangement Warm-up (5mins) Aims: - introduce to students the topic of listening lesson - activate students’ knowledge on the topic Game: TAM SAO THAT BAN Step 1: Divide students into 2 groups, name groups Step 2: Tell students they will play game TAM SAO THAT BAN and call 5 students of each group go to blackboard in lines. Number them from 1 to 5. Step 3: Give instructions: I will give two students numbered 1 pieces of Group work paper in which there are 5 words relating to our today listening topic. After I start the game, students numbered 1 will talk those words to students numbered 2 and students numbered 2 will talk to students numbered 3, continuing to students numbered 5. And students numbered 5 will write those works on blackboard. Which group has more correct answers will win the game and received a small gift from me. Step 4: Check students’ understanding of instructions. Step 5: Let students start the game. Step 6: Check students’ answers and declare the winner. Expected answer: They are natural recourses. Pre- listening (5 mins) Aims: Help students to be familiar to the sounds and the meaning of some key words of the listening lesson. Step 1: Help students to repeat chorally and individually 5 words above and check the meaning of those words. If they do not know the meaning, help them by giving the Vietnamese equivalent. While- listening (27 mins) Aims: - help students to be able to listen for general information to have background knowledge about natural resources. - help students to be able to listen for specific information to know which types of sources of energy and how important they are.
