Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask about objects (plural). II. Aims: Asking about objects (plural), developing listening and speaking skills. III. The methods of teaching: Communication approach. IV. Preparing of teaching aids: - Teacher: Teacher cards 1-8 and 33, 34, 39, 40; cassette player; real objects for the new vocabularies (a crayon, crayons, a pencil case, pencil cases). - Students: Book, crayons, pencil cases. V. Steps of teaching: Time CONTENTS Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 7 ms I/ Warm up and review: * Review. * Play a game “Lucky number” A bag A book A desk A pen Lucky number An eraser A pencil Lucky number II/ New lesson: 1/ Presentation: a/ Introduce the singular/plural forms of the vocabulary words: - A crayon. - Crayons. - A pencil case. - Pencil cases. b/ Introduce the question and answer pattern. Sam: What’s this? Ginger: It’s a crayon. What are these? Sam: They are crayons. * Holds up teacher cards 1-8 (classroom objects) to review the vocabulary & the question & answer pattern from Unit 1. * Asks students to play a game. * Sets the scene. - Uses teacher cards 33, 34, 39, 40 to present the vocabularies. - Reads three times each words. - Explains the dialogue. - Asks students to repeat the dialogue. Note: + They are = They’re. Read the classroom objects. Play a game: S1 chooses the number & asks: What’s this? S2 anwers: It’s (a pencil). - Listen - Listen. - Repeat each words three times( choral) -Repeats individual (some students). - Listen. - Repeat 5 ms * Open your books 2/ Practice: Teacher cards: 33,34, 39,40. - What’s this? It’s a crayon. - What are these? They are crayons. 3/ Further practice: III/ Consolidation: Play a game “Noughts and Crosses” A book A bag A ruler A crayon Crayons A pencil case A pen A pencil Pencil cases IV/ Homework: + Pronunciation Emphasizes the plural ending: crayons -> /z / Pencil cases -> /iz / - Asks students to open their books to page 22,23. - Has students identify the objects, the characters and what the characters are saying. - Plays the recording and asks students listen and point to the pictures. - Holds up the teacher cards and asks student to practice in groups. - After that, asks them to work in pairs. - Has students work in pairs with their real objects in three minutes. - Asks students to play a game. - Divides the class in to 2 groups. - Gives the way to play a game. (S1 chooses a number and asks S2. S2 answers. If which group has three point in a line is winer). * Educates the life skill. - Learn by heart the new words and practice with their friends. - Open their books. - Listen and point to the characters as they speak. - Listen and point to the pictures ( a crayon, crayons, a pencil case, pencil cases). - Work in groups. - Work in pairs. - Work in pairs with real objects. S1 chooses a number and asks S2: What’s this?
