LESSON PLAN Unit 4: ACTIVITIES

Lesson 1: LET’S START (p.28).

I. Objectives

- To understand the story

- To help students develop their speaking and listening

II. Goals

1 Vocabulary : sunscreen, waterproof, forget, remember, put on, turn on, turn off,

take off, turn down, turn in.

2 Materials : cassette, teacher cards, CD1 track 59 – 60, colored, etc.

3 Tip : The tow-word verbs can be separated and moved after the object noun.

EX: Turn on the TV.

Or turn the TV on.

Go to the door is OK, but Go the door to doesn’t make sense.

4 Skills : Listening – Speaking - Reading

III. Contents

Teacher’s activities Students’ activities

1. Warm up :

- Sing “Hello! How are you?” song

2. Review :

- Play a game: Match the pictures

describe anywhere with the right

words (department store, post

office, park, video store, library,

computer lab).

- Sing “Hello! How are you” song

- Weather report

- Listen carefully and look at the teacher

- Give the meaningful context to introduce

the vocabulary

- Hold up each flash card to introduce of

new words: sunscreen, waterproof,

forget, remember, put on, turn on, turn

off, take off, turn down, turn in.

- Show the flash card and introduce the

characters: Andy and Kate.

- Play the recording track 59 and repeat the

dialogue twice

- Have students make a substitution with

new words

- Have students work in pairs to role

play the dialogue with book open

- Invite students to make question

about the dialogue

- The teacher helps students correct

mistakes and make the question

clear, comprehensible when

necessary

5. Consolidation :

- Show the pictures on the board

Summarize the dialogue

- Have students work in group into

groups of three to make new

dialogues with phrasal verb they

have just learned One student will

be a narrator The other two

students will role play their

dialogue

6 Story time: The oak tree’s dream.

7 Homework:

- Learn by heart the new words and

do the exercises in their

workbooks

- Listen and identify the words

- Look, listen and repeat several times

- Look at the flash card and listen

- Listen and repeat after the audio twice

- Students do substitution with new words

- Pairs work

- Practice with your partner

- Read the sentence the part of the dialogue

- Groups work and practice

- Listen to the story

- Listen and remember
