Sara editor and chief kid, sara@kidmagazine.com.au www.kidmagazine.com.au L ast week I had a moment. I was preparing for my interview with Nicole Livingstone about MOOV head lice treatments (see page 16) when I said to my husband “I never ever would have thought that I would be interviewing a former Olympian about head lice!” It’s funny where life takes you. I also never would have thought that in six months we would have taken our little website and turned it into a magazine seen by over 60,000 people in the rst issue alone. Life does take you down some interesting paths and I hope 2013 brings me many more opportunities to challenge myself and grow Kid Magazine. I am really excited about this issue. We have a competition prize pool of over $1,000 and some super cool exclusive oers just for Kid Magazine readers. We have interviews, stories and new products that you will love. Our “Back to School” feature includes our picks of the back to school essentials for 2013. For mums, we have some amazing Valentine’s Day gifts picked out, so circle what you want and start dropping some hints. FittaMamma’s new maternity range has been designed for mums-to-be who want to stay t, keep active and look good thorugh pregnancy. The range includes well-constructed, attractively tting tops and leggings that are specically designed for exercise. The bonus is they are stylish and attering and stretch with you as your baby grows. The range starts from £32.99 and is available online at www.ttamamma.com. On the website you will also nd a range of interesting exercise and nutrition advice for a healthy and active pregnancy. 1. If you want to stock up on some sale items for the kids for next Summer think classic cuts and basic items such as plain singlet tops, t-shirts, shorts and hats. Avoid impulse purchases for anything that is a seasonal trend as it is likely next Summer it won’t be in fashion and the kids won’t wear it. Think ahead to what size the kids will be next Summer and you will have a great start to their Summer wardrobe when you can add on trend pieces to keep with the fashion. 2. If you are on an online shopper, set yourself a time limit for your sales shopping and stick to it. The number of online kids boutiques is constantly grow- ing and you could spend hours moving from online store to online store. Once you set your time limit, start with your favourite boutiques rst and gradu- ally move through your list. I have a separate email account for newsletter subscriptions for my favourite stores so that I can check it regularly without it clut- tering my regular mailbox. 3. If you have friends living in other parts of the World with birthdays in the next few months, start thinking about birthday gifts for the kids. You can easily send lightweight Summer clothing via post Look out for Australian labels to showcase our amazing designers! 4. If you have a European Summer holiday planned for 2013 you can also use the current sales to plan the kids wardrobe for while you will be away, particularly if they are younger and moving quickly through dif- ferent sizes. 5. Finally, think about what the kids need to get them through the remainder of the warmer months and any special occasions you have coming up. Light cardigans will see you thorough until Autumn and with the heat we are currently experiencing some light Summer dresses or shorts would be perfect. If your children have a wedding or party to go to you can probably make a huge saving on a special outt for them.
