Aims: Practice making and responding to suggestions. B. Objective: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to make and respond to suggestions. C.Language content: * Structures: I suggest + V-ing I think we should D. Teaching aids: Textbook, picture E.Ways of working: T- whole class, pairwork, groupwork, individual work. F. Anticipated problem: Speak wrong some words . II. Procedure: Stage Teacher's activities Student's activities Warm up ( 5 minutes) * Kim's game: - Have Ss look at the poster of things dealing with activities in free time (for 20 seconds) on page 59 and try to remember as many activities as possible. - Divide the class into 2 groups. - Put away the posters and ask Ss to go to the board and write the names of the activities they've just seen from memory. The group having the most right English words in the winner. T - whole class A. turn off the faucets / fix the faucets B. turn down the gas fire C. turn off the fan D. turn off the air- conditioner E. turn off all the lights & the television F.turn off all the faucets before going out G.travel by bikes instead of motorbikes H.use the public transport instead of private one. (OR) I suggest fixing the faucet + Suggested answers: B. I think we should turn off the gas fire C. I suggest turning off the fan D. I think we should turn off the air- conditioner when no one is in E. Why don't we turn off… when no one is in. F. I think we shouldn't go to school by motorbike. G. Let go to school by bus. Production (11 minutes) * Discussion - Remind Ss that after Suggest we can use a " that clause". - Divide the class in two groups. Group A discuss the topic in 3a on page 64 "What do you do to help the poor in the neighborhood of your school" using the structure " suggest + V-ing" . Group B discuss the topic 3b on page 64 " giving suggestion that help your friend to improve his/ her English", using the structure " suggest + that clause". - Ask a volunteer from each group to show their ideas before class. - Give feedback Group work Examples: Group A: I suggest collecting some money. Group B: I suggest that you shoul work harder on your pronuciation. Aims: Listening to a text for detail and futher practice in connectives and phrase verbs. B. Objective: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know more about solar energy by listening and and to use the connectives and some phrase verbs. C.Language content: * Vocabulary: solar energy nuclear power Advanced solar panel install roof D. Teaching aids: Textbook, cassette, poster E.Ways of working: T- whole class, pair work, group work, individual work F. Anticipated problem: do wrong some sentences in practicing listening. II. Procedure: Stage Teacher's activities Student's activities Warm up ( 5 minutes) * Chatting 1. Is the sun important to our life ? 2. In what way is it important to us ? 3. Can it provide us with energy ? 4. Do you know how we can receive its energy ? 5. Do you know anything about solar energy ? Lead in the new lesson . T - whole class Listen and answer the questions Pre - listening (13 minutes) I. Pre - teach vocabulary: - Solar (a) : thuộc về mặt trời (ex: everything which is connected with the sun) . - Solar energy (n) : năng lợng mặt trời. ( situation) - Nuclear power (n) : năng lợng hạt nhân (trans) - Solar panel (n) : tấm KL để tiếp nhận năng lợng mặt trời. (picture) - Advanced (a) : cấp cao ( trans) - Roof (n) : mái nhà (picture) * Checking vocabulary: Slap the board. II.T/F statements prediction: - Ask Ss to look at the statements on page 60 ( 4a). - Have they work in pairs and guess which one are false.
