Purposes: Students can read and know about history of World Cup and make questions and answer them well 2. Knowledge: - General knowledge: through this lesson students can know the world cup more clearly - New words: Words that connected with football such as: elimination game, finalist, champion 3. Skills: Reading for general or specific information II. Method: Integrated, mainly communicative III. Teaching aids: show some the pictures of sport, country and some information about them. IV. Procedures: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES AND CONTENT OF THE LESSON STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES TIMES Warm-up: - Show a picture of the kind of the sport and ask students to answer the following question: + Which kind of sport can you guess from the picture? - Show another picture of the country and ask ss to answer one question any more. + Do you know which a great sport event will be taken place in this country in 2010? Answer: + foot ball + south Africa – world cup - Look at the picture and discuss in pairs to try to answer the questions. (4 minutes) - To know more about the World Cup, let’s start the lesson today. Pre-reading: - Ask students to look at the pictures in the book and name the team - Let students work in pairs to answer these questions : 1. Where was the 2002 World Cup? 2. Which team became the champion then? 3. Which team was the runner-up? Answer: 1. South Korea and Japan 2. Brazil 3.
