Abstract

Working under marketing department at SolarGATES for almost 4 months, I virtually had enough time to finish and achieve my goals and purposes which I have instituted before the Internship This opportunity gave me a change to involve in the actual task and experience the practical marketing process in the reality office environment

During the internship, I had been involved in many valuable tasks which help me gain more knowledge in the marketing horizon Thanks to this Internship I had a change to research and analyze the current marketing strategy of an actual company which is SolarGATES We have known that there is a long gap between theory and practicality Therefore, I need to experience and administer the knowledge I had learnt in University into the reality work to help me deeply understand about my future job

After the analysis of the company, I had found the problem relate to the price of the products

in SolarGATES Therefore, I have been humble to find a solution and suggest it to the company and hope it can somehow meliorate the sales of SolarGATES

The Intemship in SolarGATES had given me not only the experience of my future career but also some precious memory I believe that these experiences are extremely necessary to apprehend the shape of the career which I expect to live with it in my future

Chapter 1: Introduction

1 Introduction

Bach Khoa Investment & Development of Solar Energy Corporation or known as SolarGATES is one of the leader in environmental protection business in Viet Nam, which is something I am very honored to intern under their company Being Marketing Intern in SolarGATES for 3 month gave me an opportunity to experience and understood more about

my ideal career This chance also supported my knowledge on marketing horizon, help me learn more about specialized terms of marketing and the processes how we did it Moreover, this was a professional environment where I could able to apply my theory at university such

as communication skills and theoretical basis in marketing into the actual task I consider this internship was not only a compulsory subject at school but also a chance to learn and experience the real professional working environment where I will live and dedicate with after

my graduation Beside, SolarGATES is a business that selling green solution in order to protect the environment, which mean working at SolarGATES was not only a chance for me

to experience the office life but also gave me a chance to protect our green planet Until now, I

am still very happy and honor to work under SolarGATES and intent to corporate with them

in the future career

Through this Internship, I have four main purposes:

English language skills: Studying in the Department of English-American Language and Culture, I have successfully acquired four English skills (including reading, listening, speaking and writing) This Internship gave me an opportunity to apply English knowledge into hands-on corporate environment

Competence: The integration ability, analysis skill, negotiation skill, problem-solving

skill and teamwork are soft skills which I had learned from advance course such as

Advance Business English, Critical Thinking, Psychology, etc., and this Internship was

a best chance for me to administrate into the actual task

Attitude: Study in Hoa Sen University, I had experience with high educational demand and actively solve that matter Four years at University has brought for me those experiences which I strongly believe it will be a precious element for my job in the internship

Professional knowledge: My main major in school is Business English- Marketing, so that I had learned a lot of marketing theoretical such as marketing mix(4Ps-product, place, price, promotion), PR, etc Through the Internship, I hope I can enhance my knowledge in marketing field as well as apply it into the actual work

Enhance my English knowledge and focus on speaking and writing skills

The opportunity for me to apply the theoretical basic in marketing into the actual task and gain back real experience to fully understand the workflow

Enhance my competency as well as my confidant when working in the real professional environment, which not any fresh- graduates could have

- Foreknow the challenges and problems in the company and in the marketing horizon then suggest the solutions to help it better

- Experience my ideal career

During the Internship, I would like to discover my strength and weakness in my knowledge

as well as skills Then, I will expropriate the lack of my knowledge or find some key to solve

it Last but not least, I will try to find out some marketing problem which occur in the business and suggest the solution for the supervisor In the matter of fact, these are some realistic goals I need to complete during the Internship:

- Experience an actual office environment, office style and behaviors at office

- Find out which position I want to be in the wide field of marketing

- Understand the quality standard process for managing a marketing project

- Understand how to create a marketing plan for new project or new product in real life, how we understand the customer and how we compete with the competitors

- Comparing academic theory in marketing to the practical knowledge from working at SolarGATES to comprehend more about marketing field

- Understanding the process of solar power, how many type of grid-tie

- Find out which position I want to be in the wide field of marketing

1.3 Other purpose: Identification of company issue and recommendation Through the internship, the topic I targeted to research and learn was “Marketing Strategy Analysis of SolarGATES” This research will intense analyze on SolarGATES marketing strategy via 2 marketing tools: 4Ps and Price strategy Moreover, during the time I work at SolarGATES, I had discovered some problems relevant market target of the company so at the

end of this research, I will raise the solution and recommendation

2.2 The process of formation and development

SolarGATES was a subsidiary company Bach Khoa Investment & Development of Solar Energy Corporation

Bach Khoa Investment & Development of Solar Energy Corporation or known as SolarBk had been through over 40 years old They have a dream, a dream to make our Viet Nam shining in the Green map of the world Over 40 years of nursing and developing, SolarBk have tumed that dream into reality They became one of the leaders in environment protection business in Viet Nam

In 1975, a group electrical expert from Thai Nguyen University and Bach Khoa Ha Noi University had established the Center for Analysis and Development in Thermal equipment and Green energy, represented by Prof Nguyen Huu Hung

Then in 1990, Professor Nguyen Huu Hung continue to manage another center name

“Research and Development in Thermal equipment and new energy” in Bach Khoa Ho Chi

Minh University with Professor Duong Thi Thanh Luong From this state, a dream of green business had been formed

In 2006, SolarBk had been established and managed by Professor Duong Thi Thanh Luong, inherited all the solar power research from those centers and tumed it to reality

By 2009, SolarBk opened two more offices in the north and the middle of Viet Nam, which are BKN in Ha Noi capital and BKC in Da Nang city

In 2012, SolarBk had received the Energy Global Award 2012 with the green power project

in Truong Sa

In the same year, with the permission from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, SolarBk had collaborated with EVN — Electricity of Viet Nam, established ESCO — provide service and solution of solar energy for other business in Viet Nam

Taking that success, SolarBk had opened a subsidiary company name IREX, which in- charge to mainly produce the solar panel

In 2013, Mr Nguyen Duong Tuan — CEO of SolarBk became Energy Global Ambassador

In 05/2016, Bach Khoa Investment & Development of Solar Energy Corporation (SolarBk) receive the Energy Global- Nation Award Viet Nam with the project “Purifying water from sea water system” At the same year, SolarBk opened 2 more showrooms and focus their activities in the Middle area of Viet Nam

Today, SolarBk are changing from a company into a global corporation They will target into foreign market such as China, Europe, Myanmar and Canada They dream to become one

of a top Green Energy business in Viet Nam and even the world Currently, in 2018, they established a new subsidiary name SolarGATES SolarGATES is a company that responsible for the residential market, input and trade smart solar power products

CEO: The person who legally represent for the whole company He will responsible for the whole decision in the company He and COO will in charge of communicating between SolarBK and SolarGATES

COO: The person who will be in charge in communication between SolarBK and SolarGATES He will reports to SolarBK all about the performance of the company and also,

he will connect with the CEO and bring the decision of them to apply in SolarGATES Under the COO there are a lot of director and manager to support him

Backstage: This unit including H&R department, IT department, Financial and accounting department This unit bases on the SolarBK, they will support for SolarGATES and other subsidiary company to maintain the operation of each

Sale Director: The person who will improve the revenue of the organization, he will manage and develop the sale force of the company

Marketing Director: The person who will be in charge of leading and managing the marketing campaign in SolarGATES He will not only create a suitable marketing campaign for the business but also inspire and lead the team to make that campaign run effectively

Customer service department: They will in charge for all of the service relate with customer Equally, they will be the first (maybe the only) department who connect directly

with the customer

Chapter 3: Internship contents

3 Position and task

3.1 Summary of work information in SolarBk

Position: Marketing Intern, PV panel Biz Unit

Summary of daily work:

- Check and reply email come from other departments, clients, competitors and agency Bbe in charge of communication with foreign partner

- Prepare and organize documents or other legal file which relate to marketing department

- Search, totalize and analyze the price of competitors PV panels

- Search, totalize and analyze the price of other brands of Solar Water Heater on the market

- Support other staffs in my unit to complete the task from the Marketing Manager

- Check the progress of my task and send reports updating task information to superiors Evaluation: | have to admit that thanks to this internship I recognized my deficiency and weakness that I still lack off not only in knowledge but also in other soft skills I also recognized the importance of our signature and other kind of legal identity represent such as stamp During the first time when I exchange with other outside agencies, I did think that will

be easy and I can control the situation smoothly but it turned out to the opposite From that mistake, I observed that I need to be careful and take more seriously to read, receive and send any kind of paper or documents As a matter of fact, I have to take responsible to all of my email, commit or communication that I had done with clients, agency and other staffs Moreover, checking and updating the process of my work status into the auto manage system will provide me with intimate perception on my job

Compare to the Internship goals which I had mentioned on the Introduction, I have been developing my English language skills as well as my competences Specifically, thank to my daily task was check the email and contact with foreign partner, my written skills and oral skills have been enhance Moreover, working in the Marketing department had help me

improve my professional knowledge, give me the chance to overview my knowledge in the marketing horizon

3.2 Task and project that student was involved

Have been working under Marketing Department — PV panel BIZ Unit, my daily task was support the Marketing trade specialist: collect the data from the market, sum up the data, prepare legal documents and connect with agency and clients, etc Moreover, my unit has to connect strictly with other units in the Marketing department, so I still need to support the other staffs to finish the whole project

Task 1: Searching, collecting and classifying the price of PV panel

As a marketing intem in the PV panel BIZ Unit, my main task will be support the Marketing trade specialist to fulfill all mission come from the Marketing manager And one of mission is to find, search and collect the price of PV panel that come from other brand competitors In 2018, SolarBk will target into retail market, which they did not concern it before Therefore, our department needs to research and set a new price scale for PV panel products if we want to compete with other brands After received requests from Marketing Manager, I will search and collect the price of other PV panel brand on both internet and their catalogue I need to collect very detail all of related information such as name of retailer, brand of PV panel, type of panel, capacity, etc., and then save it into an Excel file before share

it to my supervisor Sometimes, I need to pretend a customer and write an email or even make

a phone call to ask them about the panel price if those retailer did not public their panel price

It was a continual updating so I need to check and update the price every week

After this task, I notice that my communication and negotiation skill have been developing Moreover, with the requirement of detail and meticulousness in the task, I perceive that my patience and endurance have been elevated and upgraded into a new level

Although I am an intern under Marketing Department, I still need to learn and train about the products and electrical knowledge In the first week of the internship, I had been through three workshops about electricity, solar power and information relate with the products Moreover, I had been trained about the company culture, company history, vision and mission, core value and core target, etc

One of special things is during my Internship I had been attended and prepared for the Yearly Meeting of the whole company, which occurred in 23 March 2018 This is the special occasion for all CEO, manager, staff and worker can meet and review their old project as well

as the vision and mission of their company so that they can determine the target for future and set a new plan Moreover, in this occasion, employees can express their feeling or their difficult, raised up any problems with the manager to find the best solution It was an honor for me to attend and prepare a meeting like this

Thanks to those workshops, I had increased my soft skills as well as theory knowledge about electricity, solar power and green energy Moreover, I had another chance to review and understand more clearly about the marketing knowledge which I had learned in my university
