Introduction

2023 can be considered one of the booming years for the tourism industry in Vietnam after 3 years since the suspension due to the Covid-19 epidemic According to data from VnExpress (which was taken General Statistics Office), Vietnam has welcomed 8.9 million international visitors in the first 9 months and reached 0.9 million more than the expected target

set for 2023 In addition, Vietnam also ranked 19th, becoming one of the most visited

destinations in the summer at the same year The image of Vietnam tourism is increasingly expanding to international friends, predicting tourism development in the future However, this development of tourism also requires the service and its quality to be enhanced as well as demand for a large number of employees with high professional qualifications and continuously updated As a student studying this major, | need to make a development plan as a preparation for my future to improve my job competitiveness as well as help myself improve and develop

to achieve higher positions

During the process of studying the Career in Hospitality Management, | was taught about general knowledge in the industry as well as many different positions and departments After researching and considering many aspects, | chose to join the L&D team of the Talent & Culture department (known as the Human Resources department) belonging to the Back of the House area Although this department is the one not directly involved in providing services to customers, this position is in charge of improving the quality of employee skills to enhance the experience for customers For me, this report is not only a self-help plan to help me determine the future department | want to work in but also a map to support me in taking small goals, shaping my future path, and building my future career In the process of defining my future work position, | also found my desired workplace that | want to join in | want to work in hotels specializing in experience and relaxation such as resorts since | want to join a hotel with a tendency to create customer experience through the customer touch points more than a city center hotel which is mainly for accommodation purposes Therefore, MGallery — Legacy Yen

Chapter 1 General introduction of the hotel 1.1 History and development

MGallery belongs to AccorHotels, one of the most famous hotel management

businesses in the world, founded by two co-founders, Paul Dubrule and Gérard Pélisson In

1967, they established their first SIEH hotel group with a hotel named Novotel in Lille Lesquin, France From 1972 to 1982, it continued to launch a new brand called ibis (1974) as well as acquire some other developing brands such as Courtepaille restaurant chain (1973), Mercure (1975), Sofitel (1980), etc The year 1983 marks an important milestone which is the creation

of Accor - a new entity with a total of 440 hotels, 1,500 public or institutional restaurants, and

in 2008 with the first 8 hotels in many countries such as France, Switzerland, Austria, New

Zealand, and Australia In 2016, MGallery changed its name to MGallery by Sofitel However, people tend to be more familiar with the name MGallery Hotel Collection than the official name MGallery Hotel Collection is impressed with the unique characteristics of each hotel while other brands are trying to synchronize the style of their hotel chain According to Hospitality Net, MGallery's hotels all have an individual personality that gives guests a distinctive travel experience This is shown through boutique design style reflecting their history, exceptional setting, the original vision of its inception, or the unique design At present, MGallery possesses 121 hotels in 40 countries along with 43 hotels in the pipeline

In the Vietnamese market, MGallery has 7 hotels located in 7 cities from North to South,

including Legacy Yen Tu Located at the Yen Tu mountain foot in Uong Bi City, MGallery — Legacy Yen Tu was built by AccorHotels in 2018 with 133 rooms in total Inspired by Hue Quang Kim Thap, famous architect Bill Bensley designed the hotel in a luxurious way combining the historical beauty, culture, and spirit through the intimate materials of the Vietnamese people Located about 45 km from Cat Bi International Airport and 116 km from

Noi Bai International Airport, Legacy Yen Tu is a hotel destination that attracts both domestic and foreign tourists with a full range of services and a diversity of activities

1.2 Business categories

1.2.1 Accommodation

Rooms at Legacy Yen Tu range from 49 - 53 square meters on average and accommodate up to 4 persons per room (except Deluxe which only allows up to 3 persons per room) Depending on the type and view, each room will have different specific prices The prices below are taken from the official booking website of Accor Group and all the room rates

include breakfast

The basic room of Legacy Yen Tu is the Superior Room with 2 Single Size Beds This room type will have 2 views which are mountain view and village view Superior Room with 2 Single Size Beds - Mountain view costs 3,850,000 VND while Superior Room with 2 Single

Size Beds - Village view costs 4,050,000 VND

Deluxe Room is the only room category that allows a maximum of 3 people per room This room type is divided into 2 types which are rooms with 1 king size bed and rooms with 2 single size beds Although the bed layout is different, the prices of the rooms will be the same and depend on the view the guest has chosen Deluxe Room with Mountain view will cost

4,250,000 VND whereas Deluxe Room with Village view will cost 4,550,000 VND For Deluxe

Room with 1 King Size Bed, guests will have one more option - Deluxe Room with 1 King Size

Bed - Pool view with a price of 5,150,000 VND

Similar to the Deluxe Room, the Junior Suite is also divided into 2 room types which are 1-king-size-bed room and 2-single-size-bed room At Junior Suite, there are only 2 main views provided, which are mountain view and pool view Junior Suite with 1 King Size Bed -

Mountain view costs 5,650,000 VND while Junior Suite with 1 King Size Bed - Pool view costs 6,850,000 VND For the Junior Suite with 2 Single Size Beds, guests can only have a choice of mountain view with the price of 5,650,000 VND

The most luxurious room in MGallery Yen Tu is the Presidential Suite with 1 King Size Bed This is the fully equipped room with the highest price in the hotel which is 28,850,000 VND along with some exclusive special services In addition, this is also the largest room with

an area of 106 square meters for each and the most beautiful mountain view

1.2.2 Food & Beverage

MGallery Yen Tu only has a main restaurant named Tho Quang Restaurant This restaurant, with accommodation of up to 250 guests, serves three meals a day including both international dishes and special traditional Vietnamese cuisine The restaurant opens from 6:30

am to 10:00 am (30 minutes longer at the weekend) for breakfast, from 11:00 am to 02:00 pm for lunch, and dinner is from 06:00 pm to 10:00 pm The menu is not only diverse but also unique with Vietnamese Northwest dishes such as Buffalo "Pho", "Thung" traditional sweet soup, etc or interesting food titles inspired by Vietnamese fairy tales such as Son Tinh Thuy

Tinh, Cay Tre Tram Dot, etc However, the most impressive thing about the restaurant is its

space and design - one of MGallery's strong points Tho Quang Restaurant has a classic design

of wood and copper Besides, on the wall of the restaurant is a mosaic made from 100% ceramic tiles produced by hand from traditional villages This is the painting Mouse's Wedding - one of the Dong Ho folk paintings in the culture of the Vietnamese people

Along with the restaurant, Legacy Yen Tu also has a lounge called Thien Quan which opens from 10:30 am to 10:00 pm From the balcony of Thien Quan Lounge is the view of Yen

Tu National Forest where guests can fully observe the majestic mountain and the beauty of

nature Aside from alcoholic drinks such as beers, champagnes, wines, or cocktails, Thien Quan Lounge also offers a menu with various beverages exclusive to the hotel such as teas, coffees,

1.2.3 MICE

Besides accommodation and catering services, MICE stands in third position among the hotel categories bringing high revenue profits to hotels Therefore, the company really pays attention to this aspect and puts effort into investing in building the ballrooms For MICE, Legacy Yen Tu has a Grand Ballroom called Dien Hong Ballroom with an area of over 852 square meters Dien Hong Ballroom is the main ballroom described as a splendid palace with spacious space and a capacity of up to 600 attendees In addition, there are 3 different other ballrooms to meet the demands for small and cozy spaces for guests such as small tea breaks,
