Writing is divided into two categories in IELTS, Academic and General

Training

In this book, the academic format is discussed, which is often, but not always,criteria for applying to tertiary education programmes in English-speakingcountries

A person's writing ability is evaluated in the writing section, as well as theirability to understand and respond to different tasks with an adequate level ofaccuracy

What Is Task 1?

In this task, candidates are tested on their ability to understand data presentedvisually The candidates are required to write a report describing the given dataonce they have analyzed it and understood it

The assessment for Task 1 is based on four categories that determine the finalscore from 1 to 9 Below is a description of each criterion:

Step 2 - Create a feature list

List the aspects that will appear in the description on the page where the

illustration appears By doing so, you won't leave out any pertinent informationand your analysis will be more comprehensive

Step 4 - Review and edit your report

After completing your report, spend a few minutes reading it and making anynecessary changes This is an important step, but most people never get thechance to do it because of time constraints You should always have some sparetime In that case, you need to practice more

1) Organize your time and manage it wisely.

People are not generally organized when it comes to any of their writing tasks, asmentioned above People consider planning to be a waste of time because theyaren't used to it

Getting good results requires planning Taking the suggestions above as a

starting point will be a good place to start

Having twenty minutes to plan, write, and check seems inadequate Yet, if you'resystematic, you'll get there Count the time it takes to analyse a graph, take notes,and then write it

Build your system from that and then keep a record of each step you take tocreate your system You will be amazed at the results after a few trials

2) Understand the scoring criteria

An understanding of what examiners are looking for in your report is critical.The IELTS official website provides band descriptors, but few people attempt tounderstand what they are and how examiners use them

There is no rocket science involved here It's not difficult to follow the

descriptors and though they might sound rather technical at times, even knowingwhat each criterion is meant to do will help you realize what examiners arelooking for to score you well

You must, for instance, achieve the following to earn 7 points:

Task Achievement

- Write and submit a 150 words completed report

- Include an overview with a clear description of the main trends/stages/changes represented in the graphic

- Describe all features is needed

Cohesion and Coherence

- It is important to present information logically so ideas can progress naturally.

- Using a range of cohesion devices (linking words, pronoun references, etc.) with some flexibility, but don't overuse or underuse.

Accuracy and lexical range

- Ensure that the expressions you use have some level of sophistication (uncommon words) and are aware of the link between the words (such as combining words like "do business").

- Make a few errors in spelling, word choice, and form (most sentences are error-free).

Grammatical range and accuracy

- Make sure you use a variety of types of structures with high levels of accuracy (the majority of your sentences are complete and error-free) and good punctuation.

A report that earns a 7 will not be perfect, but it should demonstrate a high level

of accuracy for all four criteria

There is less room for error and higher expectations when it comes to vocabularyand grammar skills, which will help you get an 8; however, the requirementsstay the same

Paraphrasing is key
