Architecture is the art and technique of designing and building, as distinguished from the skills associated with construction It is both the process and the product of sketching, conceiving, planning, designing, and constructing buildings or other structures Architectural works, in the material form of buildings, are often perceived as cultural symbols and as works of art Historical civilisations are often identified with their surviving architectural achievements The practice, which began in the prehistoric era, has been used as a way of expressing culture by civilizations on all seven continents For this reason, architecture is considered to be a form of art 2 Each historical period has its type of architecture, reflecting the artistic trends of the time This section will discuss the main types of architecture accompanying humankind over the centuries a Gothic: With the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe entered the Middle Ages, and religious architecture took centre stage Gothic cathedrals, such as Chartres Cathedral in France, are outstanding examples of this period b Renaissance: The Renaissance brought a return to classical Greek and Roman aesthetics, with a strong Italianate influence and a focus on symmetry and 6 proportion It is embodied in works such as Filipo Brunelleschi's iconic Florence Cathedral c Baroque: In the Baroque period, which flourished in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries, architecture became more ornate and theatrical, as seen in the Palace of Versailles in France d Industrial: The Industrial Revolution radically changed how buildings were constructed with the advent of iron and steel architecture, which allowed for the construction of skyscrapers and suspension bridges An example of this type of architecture is the Crystal Palace in Madrid e Modern: The 20th century brought revolutionary architectural movements such as Modernism and Functionalism, which prioritised functionality and simplicity in design Architects used the new building techniques of concrete, steel, glass and wood, with Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright being some leading exponents f History At the beginning of the dawn of human history, faced with the need to protect themselves against the effects of natural weather, prehistoric humans had to create the first architectural forms to survive Thus, architecture is first born from the needs of human use In the history of European architecture, the hypothesis of the origin of architecture is mentioned by Vitruvius in his work Ten Books on Architecture Accordingly, the original hut is considered the starting point for all forms of architecture later g Sydney: The Sydney Opera House, is widely regarded as one of the world's most famous and distinctive buildings and a masterpiece of 20th-century architecture, was designed by Danish Architect Jorn Utzon, after his design won a competition in 1957 This highly controversial project at the time came to define Australia The Sydney Opera House is a modern expressionist design, with a series of large precast concrete "shells", each composed of sections of a sphere, forming the roofs of the structure, set on a monumental podium The Sydney Opera House opened the way for the immensely complex geometries of some modern architecture The design was one of the first examples of the use of computer-aided design to design complex shapes 7 3 Although the roof structures of the Sydney Opera House are commonly referred to as "shells", they are in fact not shells in a strictly structural sense, but are instead precast concrete panels supported by precast concrete ribs The project was built in three stages Stage I (1959-1963) consisted of building the upper podium Stage II (1963-1967) saw the construction of the outer shells Stage III (1967-1973) consisted of the interior design and construction Rome: Rome (also known as Roma) - the capital of Italy - is famous for its architectural works that resemble the ancient Roman Kingdom, including the Colosseum - an attractive destination attracts thousands of tourists from the city of Rome The Colosseum has gone through many years of construction and ups and downs of collapse due to earthquakes and wars, which have created and shaped the Colosseum as it is today - a great architecture for its time glorious history The overall arena is 48m high, 188m long and 156m long The circumference of the entire arena when intact was 545m with a capacity of 50,000 - 60,000 people The most outstanding thing about the entire Arena is the large arena that has witnessed thousands of life-and-death matches here When building this arena, the ancient Romans used up to 100,000 cubic meters of Travertine stone, 300 tons of iron clamps and more than 1 million bricks of different sizes for construction The whole stand is divided into 3 parts: made of marble, sandstone, and finally 3 separate seats for the rich, the poor and women The entire architecture has 4 rows of stone arched doors divided into 3 floors with 80 doors per floor Below the arena is a series of underground corridors for soldiers II Painting 1 Define: Painting is one of the most important and popular forms of art Painting is an art in which people use painting colors and paintbrushes to paint on a surface such as paper, or fabric, to express artistic ideas, emotions about nature, life, Normal, this work is done by the artist The results that work are art picture 2 History of painting: According to the American Coatings Association Paint ‘‘made its earliest appearance about 30.000 years ago’’ Once the Industrial Revolution stuck, the paint and coating industry became a recognized element of the American national economy Around the 1950, the risks of various paint components came to light and paint 8 manufacturers responded All the knowledge and undersyanding gathered over the last 70 odd years is what encouraged the emergence of environmentally friendly paint 3 Values: In daily life, paintings are widely used in home decoration and large architectural decorations Valuable paintings are classified into many levels from ordinary to "masterpiece" Paintings of great value are often displayed in museums or auctioned at very high prices For artists, painting is not only a language to convey the artist's ideas but also helps enhance memory and nurture imagination through the use of colors and shapes However, for those who are good-minded, painting is also a way for artists to bring humanistic values from volunteer activities, contributing to making life more meaningful 4 Things you didn’t know about paint:  Paint storage is important: Paint freezes, so you have to pay attenyion to the temperature of the area that you are storing it You don’t want your paint to become too hot as well, as this can affect the paint mixture  Not all paint is good paint: People learned after years of paint creation that there’re better paints than others, especially when it comes to durability  Environmentally-Friendly paint is good for your health: When you use organic, non-voc paints, you’re creating a healthier air quality for your home and lessen your chance of exposure to harmful chemicals III Music 1 Definition of music - Music is the arrangement of sound to create some combination of form, harmony, melody, rhythm, or otherwise expressive content Definitions of music vary depending on culture, though it is an aspect of all human societies and a cultural universal - The creation of music is commonly divided into musical composition, musical improvisation, and musical performance 2 The foundation of music -The music of prehistoric cultures is first firmly dated to c. 40,000 BP of the Upper Paleolithic by evidence of bone flutes, though it remains unclear whether or not the actual 9 origins lie in the earlier Middle Paleolithic period (300,000 to 50,000 BP) There is little known about prehistoric music, with traces mainly limited to some simple flutes and percussion instruments However, such evidence indicates that music existed to some extent in prehistoric societies such as the Xia dynasty and the Indus Valley civilisation 3 The values of music Music can have many practical values, including artistic, social, and therapeutic ones It is also valuable for its value as entertainment Whether we love it or dislike it, music has various practical values These range from social to therapeutic and from entertainment to self-affirmation Let’s take a look at a few examples: +Practical value: Music releases dopamine, a hormone that makes us feel good These chemicals trigger feelings of pleasure, including guilty pleasure Besides its therapeutic value, music has many practical values, including social, therapeutic, functioning-enhancement, and self-affirmation However, the relationship between the musical and practical value of music is complicated The practical value of music may depend on the experience a person can gain from it Most music theorists agree that music is valuable because it creates various experiences, but they disagree about how much these experiences matter +Artistic value: The artistic value of music is often disputed, especially when the value of music is at stake In some cases, the aesthetic value may be overshadowed by ideological or social value Philosophers such as Friedrich Nietzsche have attempted to answer this question by defending “light” music and rejecting the importance of “great” music Popular music is widely considered different from art music Philosophers tended to ignore it until recently, but in recent years, it has become an increasingly important topic in philosophical discussions of music Popular music is often used as a test case for prevailing theories about music, such as Kant’s idea that all music is equally artistic Popular music is also increasingly serving as a focal point in general discussions of art and aesthetics +Cultural value: Music’s social and cultural value can be measured by various indicators, including the number of performances, venues, and festivals; the diversity of musical styles; and collaboration with other cultural organizations and educational institutions Whether live music attracts diverse audiences or merely entertains residents, 10 the diversity of cultural offerings and opportunities in a community should be a critical component of cultural planning Music is one of the most internationally connected forms of culture People from different countries relate to the same kinds of music, even if the lyrics are not in their native language For example, opera lyrics have crossed national borders and are prevalent in many places Furthermore, classical songs with foreign lyrics have become commonplace +Educational value: Music education has been linked to higher IQ levels and enhanced verbal, spatial, and reading abilities In addition, children who learn an instrument also exhibit higher math proficiency by the time they reach grade twelve The association between music and math is based on researchers’ findings that the part of the brain that responds to music stimulation also functions in problem-solving tasks In addition to helping children develop cognitive and social skills, music education also exposes kids to other cultures This increases their acceptance of others and fosters a more diverse worldview Music education also helps children develop essential life skills such as patience, self-expression, and social skills Finally, it can be an excellent tool for educators to connect with their students Children who grow up with musical training are more emotionally developed, which increases their self-esteem They learn to cope with anxiety problems more effectively and build a stronger sense of self-worth This, in turn, helps them to be successful in society 4 Instruments There are 4 main type of instrument:String instruments, Wind instruments, Percussion instruments, Electronic instruments a String instruments include:harp, violin, cello, guitar b Wind instruments include:trumpet, tuba, flute c Percussion instruments include:cymbals, drum, maracas d Electronic instruments:electric piano, electic basses, electric guitar Conlusion 11 The various forms of art, whether visual or performing, serve as profound channels for human expression, communication, and interpretation From the intricate strokes of a painting to the graceful movements of a dancer, each type of art offers a unique insight into the human experience, reflecting our beliefs, values, and emotions Art transcends boundaries of time and space, weaving its way through generations and cultures, leaving in an indelible mark on society Through art, individuals find solace, inspiration, and connection It fosters empathy, sparks imagination, and encourages critical thinking Furthermore, art has the power to challenge societal norms, provoke thought, and drive social change It is both a reflection of our word and a catalyst for shaping it In essence, art enriches our lives, stimulates our senses, and expands our understanding of ourselves and the world around us It is a testament to the beauty, complexity, and resilience of the human spirit, serving as a timeless reminder of our capacity for shaping it 12
