Week 30 - Date of preparing: Period 89 - Date of teaching: UNIT 11: OUR GREENER WORLD Lesson 3: A CLOSER LOOK (page 50, 51) A Objectives: Knowledge: Students learn some words related to the topic Our greener world and know how to pronounce the rhythm in sentences and in conversation Competences: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use some words/ phrases to categorise the things that can be reduced, reused and recycled and pronounce the rhythm in sentences and in conversation Character qualities: Be aware of making our world become cleaner and greener B Teaching aids: Textbook, laptop, louspeaker, projector, pictures sachmem.vn C Procedure: I Warm-up: Brainstorming Aim: To motivate students’ some vocabulary related to protect the environment The ways to help the environment *Possible answers: + planting trees and flowers + picking up rubbish + cycling + walking to school + using reusable bags when shopping + put garbage bins in every classroom… II Pre-stage Aim: To teach students some words related the things that can be reduced, reused and recycled and how to pronounce the rhythm in sentences and in conversation Vocabulary: (Using pictures to teach vocab) - Reduce(v: cắt giảm - Reuse (v):tái sử dụng - Recycle (v):tái chế  Checking vocab: Slap the board Pronounciation: present the stressed and unstressed syllables combine to make rhythm III During stage Aim: To help Ss use the words related to the topic to match and put the words into right groups and to pronounce the rhythm in sentences and in conversation Activity 1: Matching The three Rs stand for Reduce - Reuse - Recycle - Ask Ss to draw a line from a symbol in column A to match words in column B with the meaning in column C - T checks Ss' answers Key: A B C Use something again create new products from used materials Use less of something … Reduce … Reuse … Recycle Activity 2: Write a word in the box under each picture - Run through the words given first - T asks Ss to write a word in the box under the appropriate picture - T checks Ss' answers Key: rubbish plastic bags glass plastic bottles noise paper water clothes Activity 3: Put the words from Activity into groups One word can belong to more than one group - Get Ss to put the words into groups - T checks Ss' answers - T asks Ss to add more things in real life Reduce rubbish plastic bag noise plastic bottle paper water electricity gas etc … Reuse plastic bag glass plastic bottle can paper bulb water clothes envelope carton box etc … Recycle rubbish glass plastic bottle can paper clothes newspaper textbook plastic container etc … Activity 4: Listen to these sentences, repeat then Pay attention to the bold syllables - Play the recording, students listen to the tape and repeat Audio script: 1.If you cycle, it’ll help the Earth 2.Water is good for your body 3.The students are planting trees in the garden 4.Is it better to use paper bags? 5.We are happy to walk to school Activity 5: Listen and practice the conversation Pay attention to the bold syllables - Play the recording - Play the role IV Post stage Aim: To help Ss further practice on using the words related to the topic Game: Understanding each other - Teacher prepares some word cards: rubbish plastic bag glass plastic bottle noise paper water clothes …………………… Teacher asks students to go to the board and give one of them the cards She/ He has to act the word out without saying a word If the other one can guess and say aloud the word correctly, they will get the points  Homework: - Learn by heart all the new words - Do more exercises in workbook(Unit 11) - Prepare for Unit 11- Lesson 3: closer look  Feedback: _ _
