Week: UNIT 5: NATURAL WONDERS OF VIET NAM Date of pre: Period: Lesson 2: A closer look Date of tea: I.OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson Knowledge: - Learn the names of some travel items and use the vocabulary in context - Pronounce the sounds /t /and /d/ correctly in isolation and in context Competences: - By the end of the lesson students will be able to know the names of some travel items and know how to pronounce the sounds /t /and /d/ correctly in contexts Character quality: Ss will be more aware of necessary travel items, and choose the suitable items for their holidays II.TEACHING AIDS - Text book, laptop, pictures, TV, ( “sachmem.com”) III.PROCEDURES: I.WARM UP Play game “ Who is faster? *Aims: To activate students’ prior knowledge and vocabulary related to the topic T: sticks some flashcards on the board and gives them for each group - T: sets the context: “Next week, we are going camping in the forest What should we bring?” - T: asks students to work in groups of - T: gives all groups minutes to choose the necessary items - The group with the most correct answers will be the winner II.PRE- STAGE Aim: To help Ss know some new words about travel items To help Ss identify how to pronounce the sounds /t/ and /d/ * Pre- teach vocabulary: - T: introduces the vocabulary by: - Providing the flashcard of the words: -T: shows the flashcards and say the words - Ss: repeat - T asks Ss copy it to their paper * Vocabulary checking: Matching -T: asks students to work in individual - Ss: go to blackboard and match * Task 4: Listen and repeat the words -T: introduces sounds /t/ and /d/ to students and lets them watch a video about how to pronounce these two sounds - ask Ss to observe T's mouth for these two sounds - play the recording for them to listen and repeat the words Audio script: - /t/ mountain waterfall desert plaster - /d/ wonder island guide holiday III DURING- STAGE * Aim: To help Ss practice using the travel items in in context To help Ss pronounce the sounds /t/ and /d/ in context *Task 1: Write a word under each picture Practice saying the words - T: asks students to write the suitable word under each picture in minutes - Ss: the task - T: calls some students to give their answers - T: gives feedback and corrections Answer key: 1.plaster 2.suncream 3.sleeping bag 4.scissors 5.backpack compass * Task Complete the following sentences Use the words in - T: asks students to work in pairs and use the words in task to complete the sentences - Ss: work in pairs and the task - T may read and act out the sentences Elicit ideas for sentence - T: may go around to observe and help if necessary - T: calls some pairs to share their answers with the whole class - T: gives feedback and corrections Answer key: compass suncream sleeping bag backpack plaster *Task 5: Listen and repeat Pay attention to the bold-typed parts of the words - T divides the class into a /t/ group and a /d/ group - T asks them to listen carefully and raise their hands when they hear their assigned sounds - Play the recording of the sentences - Ss as requirement - T play the recording again Pause after each sentence and ask Ss to repeat - Correct pronunciation Audio script: 1- Where's my hat? - Oh, it's on your head Where they stay on their holiday? I need some meat for my cat The Sahara is a very hot desert want to explore the island by boat IV.POST-STAGE * Aim : To help Ss practice ordering travel items according to their importance for a holiday Task 3: Now put the items in task in order of usefulness Number is the most useful, number is the least useful on holiday - T: sets a context: You are going to the beach/ on a picnic for your holiday You need to order the items from the most useful to the least useful - T: asks students to work in groups of three - T: gives students minutes to discuss and put the item in the order of usefulness - T: asks students to share their answers as a whole class - T: gives corrections * HOME WORK - Learn the new words by heart and read again the sounds /t/ and / d/ - Prepare the lesson: Unit 5: A closer look FEEDBACK:……………………………………………………………………………
