develop of tourism, transportation is becoming extremely important to tourism, especially tourism in Hanoi Currently, we are very lucky to have chances to learn more about transportation in Hanoi through the course 4B In this course, we have an assignment about researching information about transportation in Hanoi, especially Hanoi – Dalat Through this assignment, we know more about the development of both transportation and tourism in Hanoi It also helps us a lot in improving our skills like collecting information, team working and so on Objectives of the study: After finishing this tourists come to Hanoi, they need to choose for themselves a suitable transport to visit this city Here are some popular of transports in Hanoi nowadays: Bicycles: It seems to be the friendliest vehicle to the environment It was first introduced in the 19th century and it is the principal means of transportations in many regions Bicycles appeared very early in Hanoi, it is considered vehicles which friendly with eco-environment, and was used a lot in many countries, included Vietnam.This type of transport does not consume fuel, friendly to environment, improve health and fitness for people It is not just for travel but also for recreational activities, entertainment, sport… Motorbikes: This is the most popular transportation in Hanoi nowadays They were invented in 1885, and are now popular used throughout the country The first motorcycle in Hanoi was branded manufacturer Herstal in Belgium and was one of the first three units into Bac Ki in 1903 Overtime, the number of transport is very popular in Hanoi and tourists can easily see them when they come there It is the oldest kind of public transportation in Hanoi and it is used by many people every day The first known easily The aircraft is the first choice because it's fast and convenient when they have trip away 12 How to get to Dalat There are many ways to go to Dalat People can visit Dalat by motorbike, plane, car and train Driving a motorbike from Hanoi to Dalat is possible, but it is a long trip The total distance between Hanoi and Dalat is 1505km Therefore, travelling to Datlat by a motorbike is really interesting You can have time to enjoy the scene during the trip You can stop whenever you want to enjoy it and you not have to depend on the timetable as travelling in train or plane However, it may be very tired if you not have a good health Travel by plane is the fastest way to visit Dalat from Hanoi There are two options for tourists: fly straight from Hanoi to Dalat, daily from 2.30 pm to 6.40 pm: and fly from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, then go to Dalat by car This is the fastest way, but the most expensive Price of Vietnam airline ticket is about 1700000vnd However, when traveling by air, you cannot enjoy the scenery and you will lose the fun of the trip Another way to get Dalat is that you can travel by car It is very convenient because you not have to depend on other elements 1100000vnd, and then, you just pay 180000vnd to go to Dalat by car 13 Transportation in Dalat: Almost people know that in the past Da Lat used to have a station which used to be one of the most beautiful one in the Indochina It had a unique structure and was built as an Art-Deco style – a style that was very popular in Western at that time But hardly anyone knows that Dalat’s railway is a cog railroad, which was very unique and rare in both Vietnam and international When you come to Dalat, you will be very surprised when you see this railroad yourself In 1903, French began to build the railway from Da Lat to Phan Rang to help French people to have chances to live in Dalat In the first day, this railway was only 84 km long The train has been travelling back and forth on seven- kilometre- railway of the primitive plateau for more than fifteen years However, while this heaven is changing vigorously, the domestic and foreign tourists simultaneously find visiting Da Lat as well was built in Vietnam In 1881, the first railway from Saigon to Mytho was built years later, the first train departed from Saigon to Mytho on 20 July 1885 In the state between 1882 and 1936, a lot of main railway was built due to the French design During the war time, Vietnamese railways were heavily damaged After the unify of the North and the South in 1975, Vietnamese railways seemed to recover very fast And after the Open policy in 1986, Vietnamese railway was recovered and modernized especially the North – South railway as they saw that railway had played an important role in the time, the Northern railways were the main ways that helped the North for the liberation of the South to fight against the US force The two features of sector in this period are for the course of consolidation and economic development of northern, support for the war against US force in Southern battlefields During this period, the railways have received a significant investment of the government and the assistance of international friends, especially the help of the Soviet Union and China The outstanding event at this state was to maintain air transport carrying troops and aid routes from north to Vinh in the calling up of Ho Chi Minh president “All for beloved South” Under the leadership of the Labor Party of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh, Northern railways have formed the glorious miracle, contributing significantly to the nation’s victory in the war against US force The railways ensured continuously communication throughout the war It had 3915 meters temporary bridges, 82 km of roads and 274.5 km of wire and shipping information They could transport 4.16 million tons of goods Officers, employees and residents have shot dozens of US air crafts at many sizes, detected and broke thousands bombs in the southern battleground The head of the Northern railways at this state was General Director, Ha Dang An, who made the railways become very famous with a lot of victories and these victories then became the tradition of Vietnamese railways 1975 – 1985: In this state, Vietnamese railway became to develop faster No matter how long the war destroyed, it seemed to recover and develop very fast At this time, the official organization of Vietnamese railway was founded and there were many companies under their control It was also the time when the North – South Reunification Railway was inaugurated and on 13 December 1976, the first train from Saigon to Hanoi departed It showed the bright future of Vietnam after long wars 1985 – Now: Nowadays, Vietnamese railways have changed a lot There are more modern trains with high qualified and equipped with modern technology Railways are now becoming the top transport of our transportation systems 16 Development of train: From Hanoi to Dalat, if you want to travel by train, there are four main trains for you to choose: SE1, SE5, SE7 and TN1 SE1: Fast train from Hanoi to Saigon SE5: Slow train from Hanoi to Saigon SE7: Fast train from Hanoi to Saigon TN1: The slowest train from Hanoi to Saigon In each train, there are a lot of different kinds of services like eating, cooling, moving, etc… Each service depends on tourists’ payment and demand Different level of payment has different kinds of services There are many choices for tourists who want to visit Dalat by train and the fastest way is from Hanoi to Thap Cham(Ninh Thuan) and then take an open bus to Dalat Here are the table of price and choices for tourists: SE1 without eating fees 10 Rail transport remains relatively underused as a mode of transport in Vietnam As a recent statistic of railway for far, 65% of the total movement is transported by train, 4% of goods transport and 5% of human transport is transported by train These numbers show us a big change in purpose of using train and railway We can also see that the role of train in the human’s life is very important The following table gives an overview of rail transport plane, you will see how cheaper is it Especially, the longer distance is, the cheaper price is It also has a lot of preference: Discount for children, students, soldiers and collective tickets Otherwise, travel by train will help you save a lot of time because train always has a timetable and you will know the time it leaves and arrives, so you need not to worry about time Secondly, train tickets always have stable price That stability lasts from day to day, no matter day or night, weekday or weekend It is only one price However, sometimes, tickets have higher price like in “Tet holidays” and other special holidays, but it is not too much higher and it will return the original price immediately Thirdly, you can carry a lot of luggage when you travel by train It is simple, also because your luggage will not be checked Moreover, you only have to go to train station 15 to 30 minutes before starting It helps you save time if you compare with other transport such as plane, you have to go to airport before taking off hours and your luggage will be checked, also Train is very useful for a long trip You not have to worry about how to carry your luggage as it is the train’s job It also means that you can also buy more souvenirs to give your relatives and friends Moreover, travel by train is very safe because of running on railways It is so special; it is separate line and made of iron Train only stops at train station So it is very safe to travel by train Otherwise, travel by train is one of the good ways to protect environment Carbon dioxide was released by train not too much It is less than other transport, it does not affect directly to the atmosphere Therefore, it is less toxic It is convenient and comfortable because the train has more space, you can stretch your legs freely Moreover, train runs very smoothly So, it is good for train sick 13 d Weaknesses: Besides advantages, travel by train has many disadvantages, also Travel by train is sometimes time-consuming while you can use this time to many other things Besides some train that can travel very fast, there are still many trains travel so slowly It will waste a lot of time of customers Moreover, travel for a long time will make passengers very tired Many trains not supply passengers with sleeping space, they only have seats, therefore, they will feel much more tired Eating is the most important problem However, it is not sure that you will have good meals with fresh food on train because it is very difficult to store foods While you travel by plane, you eating fees are included in the ticket prices, so you not have to worry about it; travel by train is a bit different, beside your ticket, you will have to pay for your own eating fees Another serious problem of train is that it always travels due to the timetable and it has its own railroad, therefore, if there are any troubles happened, the train driver can not solve it properly If there are any people or tourism means travel from one place to other places and they know that transportation is really really important in tourism Without transportation, is it tourism anymore? Nowadays, when tourism is developing faster than ever before, transportation seems to be very important for people to travel and trains have played a key role in this development For tourism, train is becoming one kind of vehicle that is used by many people while they travel for a long journey Train is one kind of transportation that helps people travel easily When you want to travel to a far place, it is suitable for you to choose train as it is very convenient You can get a ticket very easy by going to the station, or make a phone call to book a ticket, or even you can buy it online People not have to worry about how they get Dalat because it is extremely easy to decide to choose train 14 Train encourages people to travel You can save a lot of time and money when travelling by train Train is always punctual and the price is available and you can easily get it Moreover, the services on train are suitable for everyone, every class It has a variety of services with many different kinds and prices Eco-tourism can not develop without train For the recent years, eco-tourism is highly considered We want to develop eco-tourism means that we have to develop and encourage people travel by train because train can carry a lot of passengers and luggage Train does not pump out as much toxic fuel as other vehicles Moreover, train and railway help the government save a lot of money because it does not cost too much to build a railroad In short, train is very important to tourism, we should have suitable plans to develop this kind of transportation Nowadays, tourism is developing very fast, as a result, many other aspects of industry will develop along with it Transportation is a very important one, especially transportation in Hanoi and from Hanoi to other little money; moreover, you can avoid bad situations such as you can not buy ticket because they were sold out There are many ways to buy train tickets You can buy directly by going to train station It is common way because it is simple and easy to find However, this way is difficult to buy ticket with many people; especially people never travel by train They will have difficulty when they buy tickets So, they can buy train tickets at ticket agents Both of them are good ways because they help you save a little money and have tickets quickly Another way, you can buy tickets indirectly You can buy it at home by calling hotline or book tickets online Ticket sellers will deliver to you It is convenience and helps you 15 save time However, you have to pay more money because of shipping charge but it is not too much, 15 to 20 percent, only This way is very useful with people work in big companies About seat, there are many kinds of seat such as hard seat, soft seat, Airconditioned soft seat, and air-conditioned hard seat and so on Each kind has one price, it is so expensive to have good one Hard one is cheaper than soft one, however, you should not buy hard one because this cabin is crowded Moreover, people will be tired and felt uncomfortable Another important thing that you should notice when travelling by train is that when you decide to buy a ticket, you had better see if the food is included in your price because many train tickets not have eating fees If you decide to travel to Dalat by train, it is also very important and necessary for you to find a suitable
