Ribbon tab Excel Ribbon contain all the menus and tools in the ribbon tabs There are nine tabs on the Excel Ribbon those are File, Home, Insert, Page Layout, Formulas, Data, Review, View, and Help The Home tab is the default tab when you open the Excel sheet Ribbon Groups Each Ribbon tabs contain multiple groups Each group is containing specific comments related with the group Formula Bar Formula bar is showing the formula for the active cell Name Box Name box display the address of the active cell Columns A column is a vertical row of cells Spreadsheet columns are usually identified by letters Rows A row is horizontal of cells Spreadsheet rows are usually identified by numbers Active Cell Currently selected cell in the spreadsheet when you write the active cell’s Address first, we need to write column letter then we need to write Row number in this example K12 is Active cell Address Sheet tabs The Excel workbook contain multiple worksheets but still the default sheets are three and the name for those are sheet1, sheet and sheet 1.2 Microsoft Excel Formulas and Functions Microsoft Excel Formulas A formula is a simple calculation to calculate the cell’s values We can use *, /, +, -, or () Formula will ALWAYS start with an = sign Here are some examples of few formulas =A1+A2(Add the values) =A1-A2 (Deduct the values) =A1*A2(Multiple the values) =A1/A2(Divide the value) Microsoft Excel Functions The Function are programmed into the Microsoft excel, based on our Requirements we can use it such as AVERAGE, SUM, MAX Etc Here are some examples of a few excel functions Q1) Find out the Employee's name by using VLOOKUP function? Practical Example – Answer Step -01 : Call VLOOKUP Function: Select the Cell, Which You Want to Apply the Function and Write VLOOKUP Function =VLOOKUP In Selected Cell Step -02 : Enter VLOOKUP Arguments: We need to pass Argument within the Brackets After Writing the VLOOKUP Function there are Four Arguments We need to Enter, those are lookup_value, table_array, col_index num, range_lookup Lookup value - what base we are going to retrieve the data that is the lookup value it should be unique value, in this example Employee’s no is lookup value because we are going to retrieve the Data based on the Employee’s no.it is E2 cell Table array -We need to select the table for retrieve the data Based on the example the data contain A2:B6 cells Col_index num – The column number for retrieve the value, we need to enter, in this example the 2nd column is Col_index num Range_lookup – We need to select true or false true mean approximate match and false mean exact match, in this example it is false It means we need retrieve Exact value ,so should be Exact match Step -03 : Hit The Enter Key : After Entering The Function, We need hit The Enter Key, The Excel Retrieve the name in the 2nd column Exactly Matching with EMP.NO OVERALL EXCERCIES Q1) if the student obtained more than or equal to 35, who passed the test otherwise they fail the test hence, find out the student who pass the test in each test by using if function? Q2) find out each test result and student's name by using student's roll no (use the VLOOKUP function)?
