278 8.2 Limitations and Recommendations The limitations of this research and suggestions for further research are included in the this section: a) The analysis of energy, food, and water policies in this research reflects their historical underpinnings; however, it does not include any detailed investigation of sectorspecific policymaking frameworks Policy reviews with more insightful debate about the pros and cons of such (individual sectoral and sub-sectoral) policies and their impacts on socio-economic and environmental domains would be helpful in future research b) In the energy–food–water security analysis, the impact of income is not considered; hence, the issues of social fairness and justice in accessing these resources could be better elaborated in future research with the inclusion of income (indicators) c) Climate change, which is obviously an important factor with definitive and probably “defining” implications for energy–food–water security in Vietnam, is not included comprehensively in this research (i.e., in terms of its various facets and underlying complexities); hence, a deeper analysis with insights for policymakers could be provided if various aspects of climate change could be included in future research d) In this research, recommended technological changes in the water sector include drop irrigation system, which is only one way of addressing water security in Vietnam More technological options should be included in future research to strengthen the analysis, as water will be both a socio-economic motivation and challenge for Vietnam in the next decades e) This research analyses policy options for various energy–food–water sector alternatives in Vietnam This would, however, be even more insightful if it included a deliberation about the strategic implications of policy options in other specific countries or regions, which share common issues of being interlinked with pragmatic policymaking among sectors
