15 Significance of this Research This research combines cross-sectoral analyses to address the complex interdependencies of the energy-water-food – thus strengthening the foundation of emerging trends in research on this nexus The integrated methodological framework developed in this research contributes to existing literature on the energy-food-water nexus by integrating methodologies from various disciplines, so that different dimensions of energy-food-water nexus can be both quantitatively and qualitatively captured The framework can be applicable for regional approach which are similarly interested in analysis implications of energy-food-water nexus on socio-economic wide impacts In the context of Vietnam, the research should significantly contribute - by determining the multitude of impacts of alternative policy pathways – to provide the policy makers with valuable insights to make informed policy decisions To the best of the knowledge of this author, this is the first comprehensive research for Vietnam that covers the entire spectrum of energy-water-food nexus with the aim to provide insight for energy, food and water policymakers These insights are critical for Vietnam, as the country is facing several challenges for achieving socio-economic development goals in the backdrop of increasingly scarce resources for future development The long-term environmental and social impacts of rapid economic growth during the last decades will now make it imperative for the country to embrace critical changes in its policy mind-set, and to pursue more sustainable and reliable pathways The qualitative and quantitative methods in the input-output analysis will substantially contribute to a comprehensive illustration of the resource nexus, the resources’ interdependencies and their impacts on the country’s economic growth In summary, the outcomes of this research should be useful for energy, food and water policymakers, researchers, managers and other interest in Vietnam Research Scope and Data Considerations Research scope This research will be conducted for Vietnam with a focus on the Red River basin in the North and Mekong Delta provinces, which are currently facing constant climate challenges with implications for food, water and energy security
