Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, “SMMT recommended method for powering 24 Volt trailer antilock braking systems” The connections between the towing vehicle and trailer are made through plugs and sockets which are specified in BS AU 97 and BS AU 98 It should be noted that it may be illegal to operate a vehicle on which the antilock system is inoperative A British Standard does not Standard specifies electrical 4.1 connections between towing vehicles and trailers or fitted with a tell- tale that, when lit, indicates Towing vehicles as described in 3.1 shall be semi- trailers when 24 V antilock braking systems defective functioning, defective condition or the are fitted failure to function of the trailer antilock braking NOTE system The publications referred to in this and trailers or semi- trailers shall be equipped with a type 24 N (normal) connector that complies with BS AU 97 and a type 24 S function of the antilock braking system The tell- tale shall be W
